Ultraprism Introductory Post
Under the readmore... It's a bit long
The Aldru are the “Ultras” of Ultraprism’s universe, and are beings capable of manifesting as light or dark depending on their environment. However, their home planet is devoid of natural light, causing them to mature into darkness-fueled creatures that feed on Minus Energy to survive, an energy born from the collective negative emotions of sentient beings. Minus Energy is capable of creating gateways to the K-Zone, an alternate dimension where powerful monsters known as kaiju are born. The Aldru are able to attack planets and convert them into “kaiju factories,” designed to maximize the amount of Minus Energy a planet produces. Kaiju are classified by the amount of Minus Energy they contain: base kaiju are unintelligent and straightforwardly defeated, super kaiju start off normal size and grow giant when wounded, and ultra kaiju are rare, highly dangerous, and possess unique powers.
Earth has long maintained an internationally coordinated defense force, the IKAF (International Kaiju Attack Force), to handle kaiju and alien threats. A while ago, the original moon was destroyed and replaced with a mechanical satellite operated entirely by a computer system, preventing the accumulation of Minus Energy on it with the lack of sentient life. Prism’s “egg,” a suit-shaped vessel designed for incubating Aldru, was placed on the dark side of the moon, under the assumption that its darkness would ensure she matured into a full Aldru, with the “training” she received within it giving her the mission to convert Earth into another kaiju factory.
However, a glitch in the moon’s systems caused the ultra kaiju Liragon to spawn, who could create portals to anywhere in its line of sight. Liragon’s rampage prematurely released Prism, leaving her conscious but incomplete, caught between light and dark. She fought Liragon, causing both to crash-land on Earth in the fictional Murai City and jolting Prism into becoming a giant of light instead of darkness. On the ground, Prism defeated Liragon, but the IKAF classified her as an ultra kaiju along with Liragon, dubbing her Ultraprism for the beam she used to defeat Liragon. Following the battle, IKAF fighter jets attacked her with missiles, leaving her severely weakened and forcing her to retreat into a human form.
Characters:
Reika Amatsuki (玲華 天月)/Ultraprism:
Incubated on Earth’s mechanical moon to usher in an age of kaiju for the Aldru. With her development interrupted by a kaiju, she instead chooses to protect the Earth from the growing waves of kaiju, unaware of her heritage. While conditioned, she was presented baseline levels of training and a skewed set of information about Earth. Her education was presented in the form of false memories, complete with a childhood and upbringing on a planet she can't quite seem to remember.
In human form, Prism keeps a short, three pronged Reflex Lance on her waist, with a round indent in the handle. When she needs to transform, she can summon the Spark Stone, slotting it into the handle’s indent. With the top half rotated into place and the weapon raised into the air, the item emits a diamond shaped light used to transform Prism into her alien form. The Spark Stone can also be used as a lens, allowing Prism to see energy trails and through certain alien disguises. Along with simply running the 3 minute timer, Prism’s energy can be drained through sudden exposure to smoke, fumes, or other toxic airborne agents.
When transformed, Ultraprism possesses enhanced strength, speed, and durability compared to an ordinary human, along with heightened and extra senses. Ultraprism also possesses the ability to fly and create constructs out of light, such as barriers, sawblades, or a powerful energy projection known as the Requium Beam. While transformed, the Reflex Lance becomes a reflective, rainbow hued trident.
Saki Kurogane (咲 黒羽):
An independent contractor for the IKAF, primarily tasked with kaiju research and weapons development. After a mistake during maintenance for the Mecha-Moon’s systems spawns a kaiju, she takes in Prism both out of guilt and hoping to hide her slip up from the IKAF.
Yuzuki Tomori (結月 灯里)/Alien Zeran:
The IKAF’s ace sharpshooter, typically the first to be deployed when new kaiju are on the scene. While she hides it from her superiors, she is secretly a shapeshifting alien from the planet Zeran, which fell to their own kaiju epidemic and was ravaged by the Aldru not too long after. As a result, she’s very hostile to potential threats or invaders, and is willing to compromise her own morals if the IKAF needs her to.
Hiromi Igarashi (火美 五十嵐)/Magmatizer:
A member of the underground dwelling Lava Men. Because of the extreme temperatures they live in, the Minus Energy they create rises up to the surface, creating more kaiju for humanity to contend with. Magmatizer is a warrior trained by the Lava Men every 50 years in the case of an invasion from the surface, but in the absence of their identity being revealed to humanity, she instead battles kaiju for her own enjoyment. Hot tempered and impulsive, she often prioritizes flashiness over protecting humans or minimizing damage.
Using her transformation item, the Gozuriser, lets Prism transform into the strength-based Gravis Strike form, giving her far more strength and defense in the form of lava-rock arm gauntlets, at the cost of losing some maneuverability along with flight and energy attacks. Its finisher is Boiling Sunburst, a large fireball that depletes the armor and creates an intense explosion upon contact.
Sora Arakumo (空 荒雲)/Vajraya Prime:
A member of a race of beings from Jupiter, with the ability to control the violent storms of their planet. As such, the kaiju formed from their own Minus Energy are quickly and easily dispatched of, enough to become a non-issue. A member of the royal family, Vajraya Prime has made several journeys to Earth throughout history, with some of her exploits being mistaken to be the deeds of various mythological figures. While a trained warrior, she is a pacifist, and her latest appearance on Earth is more to observe and less to help humanity.
Using her transformation item, the Akas Pendant, lets Prism transform into the speed based Vena Shot form, giving her more agility and ranged attacks in the form of a mystic bow made out of ice and lightning. However, strength, durability, and ground level combat are less effective in this form. Its finisher is Longeye Piercing, a flurry of lightning arrows that break the bow and use the shards of ice to attack an enemy within seconds.
XinHua Jin/Alien Invaros:
(belongs to @epitaphredux)
An alien parasite bonded to a human host, with the goal of draining Earth of its life energy. While their goals are similar, Alien Invaros is an enemy of the Aldru, both desiring to conquer planets for their own gain. While by no means under the parasite’s control, XinHua herself is unrelentingly stubborn, unwavering in her belief in her ability to control it and in her desire to keep the power it grants her. While their union allows XinHua to transform and make use of superhuman powers, she cannot grow giant, Alien Invaros instead controlling the bodies of kaiju with a strange, crystalline “infection.” While initially antagonistic to Prism and her friends, XinHua is still willing to play nice when she needs to. Although she may be a valuable ally to have, she serves to be equally dangerous as an enemy.
Ryoichi Fujimoto (涼一 藤本)/Ultraman Hali:
An Aldru that defected from his planet the first time they tried to convert Earth into a “kaiju factory.” In the battle that pushed back the Aldru and destroyed the original moon, Hali opened a gateway to the K-Zone, the dimension where kaiju are born. In the years he spent there, his human host Ryoichi succumbed to old age and injuries and perished, prompting Hali to take on his appearance and name in his honor. While learning empathy and compassion from the heart of his host and the bond they shared, the trauma Hali endured in the K-Zone caused him retreat into a callous exterior, sacrificing his heart in service of eliminating his enemies decisively. His primary weapon is a curved blade on the crest of his head, known as the Comet Slugger.
Using his transformation item allows Prism to unlock the dimension based Alera Star form. This gives her boosted speed and attack power, in the form of a segmented fan made of filtered Minus Energy and wind. However, durability is greatly reduced in this form, making Prism a bit of a glass cannon even with the ability to create portals and wind-based attacks. Its finisher is Final Radiance, where the fan splits into projectiles that fire beams from all sides.
Aldruman Ballast:
An Aldru from Hali’s past, and the general leading the second attack on Earth. His anger over the first wave’s failure caused him to concoct the plan to have Prism infiltrate Earth, but with her unintentional defection, he remains bitter over Earth's continued freedom. Both cunning and powerful, Ballast is not an enemy to be underestimated.
