so i've coined some terms for me and my boyfriend to help explain ourselves
ultrasexual (alt. spelling: ultra-sexual): someone who is more sexual than the average person.
similar to hypersexual, except being ultrasexual causes no mental distress, and it does not need to come from trauma.
"more sexual" is defined here as someone who thinks about sex, fantasizes about sex, and/or pursues sexual pleasure more frequently than what is expected of them; or anyone who thinks of themselves as "more sexual than most people".
they may also be/be seen as kinky, slutty, whorish, etc.
The Ultrasexual Flag
infrasexual (alt. spelling: infra-sexual): someone who is less sexual than the average person.
similar to hyposexual, except being infrasexual causes no mental distress, and it does not need to come from trauma.
"less sexual" is defined here as someone who thinks about sex, fantasizes about sex, and/or pursues sexual pleasure less frequently than what is expected of them; or anyone who thinks of themselves as "less sexual than most people".
they may be/be seen as innocent, virgins, inexperienced, etc.
The Infrasexual Flag
Important Note: these terms are irregardless of sexual attraction or lack thereof. for example, I do not experience sexual attraction. I am, however, ultrasexual, as I think/fantasize/pursue sex near constantly without distress. My boyfriend experiences sexual attraction, however, he is infrasexual, because he doesn't tend to think about sex, even when he is horny or feeling sexually drawn to someone/something.
anyone can use these terms, but I will say that they were coined by an autistic person for himself and another autistic person. so neurodiverent people (autistic or otherwise) might relate more heavily with these terms than neurotypical people, and that's okay!
i've been wanting terms like these to explain the disconnect between my sexuality and my sexual attraction for awhile, so I'm hoping these help someone else too.
P.S. As of making this post (Feb 13, 2023), the tag ultrasexual contains an aphobic parody blog, the word ultrasexual is mostly used to mean an intense sexuality (very similar to how i use it), and the tag infrasexaul contains posts about the occult, as currently the word infrasexual is used to mean the sexuality of lower beings (i.e. demons) in certain circles. Neither of these definitions seemed widespread or particulary troublesome, and there are only so many prefixes in English that are a pair and mean roughly "more and less". If someone finds a better pair of prefixes, I will update the terms. (and flags, as I used the light spectrum (ultraviolet and infrared) as inspiration for the colors!)
