i think i’ve finally settled on a design for ultrawest v1 that i am happy enough with. war is over

i still think it needs some tweaking but the vibes are there. in general i’ve been trying to keep these fairly similar to their canon designs while still making the cowboy shape language and motifs obvious enough that it’s not just v1 but a little to the left. i’ve also been trying to be more creative than just putting the robot in clothes, which is basically what i did for my first design lol, but i’m still not a character designer (i just know my character design professor is screaming and crying rn)

the more i look at this the more i realize they do need actual spurs of some kind. preferably ones that jingle jangle jingle. how else are they meant to go riding merrily along?

and i do miss the poncho. been thinking about giving the new design a poncho and saying they take it off dramatically when they fight and store it in their wings or something, don’t think about it too hard.

something like this? kind of a serve. maybe it’s to keep sand out of their joints. would loose fabric not also get caught in their joints? shut up don’t think about it too hard

wip. might switch up the background. we’ll see. still don’t really know what i want hell to look like, but i have driven through wyoming which is i think the closest one can come to being dead while still breathing so there’s some good inspiration there
