"Hey Sun, remember when we were kids and I fell in the ravine and you dove in to save me, but you count swim either and we were on the news? Happy almost drowning day!"
sun wonders sometimes why he’s not terrified of water after that day, considering he’d been so petrified of losing neptune he’d jumped in after him without any thought of if he could swim or not. all he remembers is the sound of his best friend’s voice cutting off in a shriek and the unforgiving splash of a body hitting water. the next sound, a deafening ‘woosh’ as water soared past his ears. his tail was long enough to latch onto neptune but that was about all he could do, clung close together and trying to pull them both up to the surface, treading water like a newborn. thankfully, someone heard them shouting between sputters.
how could he have forgotten that day? it was seared into his memory like a brand they put on cattle. a frown falls on his face because he doesn’t see what’s so ‘happy’ about it.
“m’glad you’ve managed to see the humor in that situation cause i haven’t yet.”
