Fourth dorm, Umberdawn!
Based on the American McGee's Alice, and Alice Madness Returns.
Umberdawn was founded on the awareness and self-reflection of the Wonderful Writer
It’s color is Copper, with Dark Red accents.
The dorm values understanding, to understand and be understood, those who explore the mind and soul and what can come forth from these. Many unique students gather here, with rich inner worlds they have trouble sharing, or getting anyone to understand. With the years Umberdawn has developed a macabre and morbid reputation.
Students in Umberdawn tend to excel in writing and psychology.
The dorm is a steam-generation building, made of brick walls and exterior metal structures that stand out.
The inside of the building is livable, if simple. Most of the dorm is locked off, with the keys being in the custody of the Dorm Leader. If these keys work is debatable, considering the rusted state of many of the locks and door hinges. Strangely, they don’t seem to finish breaking no matter the strength you hit them with.
Each student has the key of their own room, which they share in pairs. The rooms have old lighting, making them somewhat dark. In the dead of night, you can also hear steam and water rush through the pipes all over.
Truly, of all of the dorms, Umberdawn seems to be the one least looked after. The small amount of students could explain it, but it might be related to the temperament of these. Many aren’t concerned with materials things, preferring spiritual and mental pursuits.
The current Dorm Leader is Cat, a helpful yet mischievous guide to any interested in the school and dorm. Cat seems to know every corner.
Cat is often seen with her childhood friend, Ali. Her vacant gaze makes it clear her head is far, far above the clouds. It seems her sleepy haze is contagious, as when she falls asleep anyone holding her hand falls asleep as well.
What kind of dream will you see....?
There’s writings about the dorm having another side. One where the colors reach your very soul, where your mind takes it’s true form. Mushrooms spring from crumbled walls, strange creatures parade around, and ancient magic energies still swirl, creating paths to lost knowledge.
The Astral Plane.
It’s often dismissed as a poetic way to see the beauty of the dorm, though some think there might be an entrance to that so called world hidden somewhere.
Whatever the case once was, Ali is the keyholder in this realm. Perhaps the key itself. Her Unique Magic transports her to this underside of the world. Most often than not she’s here, sharp knife and tongue ready as she confidently explores it’s secrets.
Ali can bring someone with her, as long as they are holding her hand when her UM activates. Here their appearance will change to show how they see themselves, what defines them, their core.
If Ali were to reach a grand understanding of another, and they would understand her in turn, it’s possible the contact rule of her UM will be rescinded and she can consciously call them to the Astral Plane. This is Cat’s case. Ali’s own trips, though, remain completely out of her control.
