“Iceland could have been anywhere. But as it turns out, Iceland suited my needs. In fact, it seemed to form a perfect complement to my native home, New York. Iceland is the place where I have the clearest view of myself and my relationship to the world. COMING THIS FALL! “Leonardo Drew: Cycles” Prints and Sculptures from the Jordan Schnitzer Collection Sep 20 – Dec 8, 2019 Leonardo Drew’s prints, powerfully large yet fragile, test the versatility of the medium, transforming cotton paper pulp and pigment into what suggests densely populated cities, a forest, or an urban wasteland. His sculptural installations in wood start with a raw material, transforming and reconstructing its essence until it resembles debris. Todays #featurefriday is currently on display at the UMCA! “Hearts Over the People”, photo-gelatin silver, 1938-39 (printed ca. 1980) by Barbara Morgan. It is part of the exhibition in the North Gallery entitled “What’s So Funny: How Humor Makes Us Think”, the 12th Annual Curatorial Fellowship Exhibition curated by grad students Kayla Peterson and Siyu Shen.
