"my parents were talking about having us over for dinner tomorrow. what do you think?" george tucks his shoes away in your shared closet, undoing his dark blue button-up before forsaking it in lieu of looking at you.
meeting george's parents. the two of you had discussed this before, as you and george had been going strong for almost seven months now. he believed in introducing you to his family a long time ago, but had waited because of how nervous you were to meet his family.
george had promised to hold off on it as long as he could, and he did just that—until his parents had suggested hosting you and him for dinner tomorrow night.
you're sure your face is in an expression that screams nervousness, because george is quick to notice, sighing softly. "are you nervous still?"
"of course i am, george." you roll your eyes, cheeks flaring up at his intense gaze of you. "your parents are nice, i know they are. they've been so eager to meet me, but..." you trail off, stomach churning with anxiety of all you could do wrong before you mumble, "i don't want to let them down."
george pouts at you, stunning blue eyes softening as he comes to sit beside you on the bed. you're nervously staring down at your hands, eyes catching the glint of the ring george had gifted you when the two of you were only talking.
it winked at you as if it was teasing you, and your heart only sped up when george grabbed your hand. "i know, i know. being nervous to meet your parents is stupid."
"no, darling," george chuckles softly, accented voice soft and sweet as he gently brushes a cupped hand over your cheek. "it's not stupid at all."
"you don't think so?" you ask softly, eyes betraying yourself and glancing up at your gorgeous boyfriend.
george nods, long eyelashes brushing against his fair cheeks as he nods in understanding, soft lips curving into the most sweet smile you think you've ever seen. "it's natural. i was nervous when meeting your parents for the first time, and for the same reason too. i wanted to please them, if only to prove i was worthy enough to have you."
george leans in, eyes searching yours as he lowers his voice. "don't be afraid, darling. i'm going to be there with you the whole time. i want you to meet them, because i want you to become a part of them one day. i want you to become a part of me, one day."
your cheeks warm again at the implication of george's comforting words, lips curving into a smile that sheds all the feelings of anxiousness away.
"so, will you do me the honor of being my date to my parent's dinner tomorrow?" george asks softly, taking your chin in his hand and tilting it up to look at him. your stomach twists with attraction, and you can't help but nod, sighing at his charm. "i will."
"consider me the luckiest man alive, then," george pulls you to him, lips crashing into yours with soft desperation. your eyes close in practiced trust, letting george cup your cheek and kiss you like he has nothing to lose.
once you pull away, both of you are flushed, and you roll your eyes, sheepishly pushing him away from you as you sigh. "remind me to never confide in you ever again. all you're going to do is drive me crazy in the end."
george chuckles at that, pecking your lips a few more times before replying, "that's what i'm here for, darling. to drive you crazy."
when you push him away from you again, he almost goes flying off of the bed.
