Anything for Lying?

Oh i have a lot for Lying. Theyre easily my favorite character in UMY. Im also going to start using the tag ‘UMY basics’ for all these so you can check through see which ones ive done.

LYING 1) After coming back from the far realms, its kind of hard to pinpoint exactly What Lying is, but they live under the city in the many tunnels underneath. 2) DESCRIPTION: They are short and slender, they have long blonde hair that turns red at the bottom, shadows almost cling to them, their eyes bleed almost constantly. 3) FRIENDS: Parv, Zoey 4) ENIMIES: Kirin 5) ONESHOT: The tunnels under the city were a maze. They were built that way on purpose.Lying had spent so long under the city they knew it like the back of their hand. The ravens that haunt the passages alert them to any unsuspecting person entering their maze. Many that come to their maze are thrillseekers or people dared to seek the horrors within.On occasion they leave their maze and venture into the city proper to conduct deals or just to watch those who go about their business unaware of the troubles that plague the back alleys and seedy bars. They liked to mess with them too. Watch them and observe to see what they do, how they handle things. It amused them.They also liked to watch the Fae. Watch how they argue and fight among each other for very pointless reasons. Watch how they fight for power in this city and chose sides.Not many know that Lying still lives under the city and can leave at will. After all, the tunnels were built like a maze for a reason.

LALNA 

1) Actually just a human, he makes potions and is Nanos assistant

2) DESCRIPTION: Tall and chubby, blonde hair, blue eyes, has burn scars on some parts of his arms from potion making mishaps

3) FRIENDS: Nano, Xephos, Honeydew, Fiona, Parv

4) ENEMIES: Rythian

5) The first time Lalna met the oracle, he was skeptical. Hed only just been introduced to the whole magic thing and was still testing the waters. The Fae he could believe, and even some of the more impulsive magic stuff Xephos told him about, but telling the future? It seemed far beyond the realm of possibility.

When she spoke to Lalna, he didn’t believe at all. But she was right. While what she said was vague, all of it happened.

When he went back to her for the second time she seemed surprised. Her room in the back of her bar was cold and the smell of alcohol overpowered the incense that burned around her table. The crystals around here were organised differently than the first time. When she told Lalna his future, the words were heavier on his ears.

“It shall be then, when the sky turns a different blue, a broken mind shall bring forth the end of an era and the rise of a family.”

The third time he went to the bar she was waiting for him. She was sitting at the bar with a drink. Even though the bar was open, she was the only person in the room, the lights were the same neon purples, but they seemed dimmer. This time she didn’t offer him a prophecy, she offered him a deal.

So essentially hes an elf with old druidic powers.He comes from a long ass line of elven druids and came to The City where UMY takes place after being rejected from his family after failing his training.

In the city he has pledged his loyalty to the Garbage Court after Trott helped him out when he left the faewild. He doesnt interact with them all too often, but when he does, its always chaotic as hell.

Despite failing his training his magic has only grown in power since coming into the city

1) A warlock who was given his magic by an unknown “god” 

2) DESCRIPTION: Pale, jet black hair, 6′2, his eyes are bright blue, but when he uses his magic they turn black, has a black mark over his heart 

3) FRIENDS: Honeydew, Lalna, Strife, Zoeya 

4) ENEMIES: Trott, Smith, Lying

5) ONESHOT: Xephos always knew magic existed, deep down. He just never knew how close it really was. That night he knew something was different. The stars seemed closer than usual and the blackness of the void felt almost suffocating. Part of his mind wanted to write it off as stress from university, but he just couldn’t shake the feeling something was wrong.Looking back on it, it made sense. It was like the universe sending him a message. Before then nothing made sense, almost like the world was out of focus. That night everything snapped into clarity.The magic that coursed through his veins made everything seem brighter. He saw everything differently now, and the problems came with it were worth it. Having to make deals with the Fae and protect himself in ten different ways was a price he was willing to pay for the power he has.

TROTT 1) A selkie prince, the high lord of the garbage court 2) DESCRIPTION: Light brown skin, his eyes are almost completely black, short brown hair with an undercut, almost always wears a long thick brown coat that holds his spell components 3) FRIENDS: Ross, Smith, Sips, Fiona and Zoeya, and has a tentative alliance with Strife and Lying 4) ENIMIES: Kirindave and all of his court, Nano and Lalna5) ONESHOT: The first time Trott saw the city he felt the unbalance. The Fae in the city that was under Kirins court pretended everything was fine but it was far from that.

There was an underlying energy to the whole place unlike anything that Trott had ever felt. Most cities had some kind of energy but nothing that felt as alive as this one. Maybe it was something to do with the amount of Fae in the city that were against the ruling court, maybe it was something to do with the humans and how lost souls seemed to gravitate towards the city. Maybe Trott went back there to rebel with the other Fae. Maybe he went back there because he was lost too.

Trott doesn’t know why he was drawn to the city so much, but since he came he’s found a few reasons to want to stay despite the unrest and all the troubles that come with it.

Even if he could leave, there wouldn’t be much that could drag him away from it.

1) Smith is a Púca, a kind of Irish fae that can give good or bad luck 2) DESCRIPTION: Tallest of the Garbage Court, dark ginger hair, sometimes has a tail and claws, really sharp teeth, a sleeve tattoos on both his arms, his skin is almost reflective. 3) FRIENDS: Ross, Trott, Sips, Fiona and Zoey, Parv 4) ENEMIES: Kirin, Lalna and Nano 5) Chaos was fun. He liked to mess with humans, and now that he had settled in a big city, it was even better. There were so many people, that rumors didn’t spread in the same way they did in the smaller town he came from.The best place to cause chaos was at seedy bars playing cards with other humans. “You guys feeling lucky?” He asked them and they laughed. They wouldn’t be lucky today, he could make sure of it. Money meant nothing to him, so as the game went on, and everyone lost more and more, he made sure the others started to think the worst. A fight broke out after only an hour, all of them accusing each other of rigging the deck. Smith sat back and watched, grinning to himself. In the chaos, he lit himself a cigarette, took all the money on the table, and left. He didn’t even have to use any magic.

LITTLEWOOD1) Littlewood is a dryad who lives in a house near the city’s large park2) DESCRIPTION: He’s short and blonde, his eyes change colour with the seasons, as does the slight tint of his skin. Always has flowers or vines growing on him somewhere3) FRIENDS: Toby, Zoey, Rythian, Parv4) ENEMIES: Anyone who threatens the safety of his park5) ONESHOT: The sunrise in the city was always beautiful. Sitting under a tree and watch the humans of the city wake up was Littlewoods favorite thing since leaving his forest. The early morning dog walkers or joggers go past him, not even noticing him there.The light fog and the morning dew put his soul at peace. The way the sun shone on him through the clouds breathed life into his body, even in the chaos of the city.Sometimes he’d spend the whole day sat there in the park. The birds would sometimes come and sit on him and keep him company. Most people wouldn’t notice him. Any passing fae will give him a friendly smile, it’s only polite, as they are passing through his park. Some children would see him and look right through his glamour. He’d wave back at them as they were dragged along by their parents.The city was different than his home. He liked it.

uhmmm what’re your headcanons for Ross.. or Zoey?

Hey anon this isnt gonna be very coherent bc im very tired and i will write this up better later but,, 

So Ross isnt actually entirely fae (which is really evident in the fic im writing atm, stay tuned for chapter 1 sometime soon) Hes half wulver, which is a kind of fae thats similar to wearwolves exept more good natured. Hes not as good with the other fae in the city, but hes very good with the humans. He used to live in a forest nearby the city alone before Smith came across him and Ross went to the city with him. Hes also one of my favorite characters to write bc he doesnt know as much about the city.

Zoey is a witch. I like to think of her magic somewhat similar to a circle of the dreams druid from dnd 5e. She is one of the more complex characters in the city, because she likes to be friends with everyone, and bc of that, she doesnt have any official affiliations, but she hangs round with the garbage court a lot. She also has prophetic deams
