More Bocular Manposting: I think Merlin and the Bocular Man should fall in love a bit. As a treat. For me. Because it would be horribly complicated and distressing for all involved, and it would be excellent. First, it assumes the Bocular Man would become sentient, or attain a kind of sentience (bocular sentience! or Scavengers Reign-style mycelial organic sentience?), and this would be very fun. Merlin would get to wonder, I made him... so how much of him is me, and how fucked up is that? Am I just narcissistically loving myself? Everything about him was my design choice, which is also fucked up since he is actualized as his own person now. Or is he??? Also as he is my creation I feel like his caretaker and authority figure! Can we be equals?? And the Bocular Man would get to wonder - if he is able - the flipside of all of these questions, on top of the whole mental load of having attained sentience in the first place. Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose? and other Intro to Philosophy brainstorming. Fun!!!
There is also a fun version of this where the Bocular Man stays ordinarily bocular, and Merlin gets attached anyway.
After all,
never change, Third Person. never change.
