wait tell me more about rustypony

oh man i started a possession au (the last of a dying breed) where i was planning on having ponyboy return back to tulsa in the 1970s during the events of rumble fish. he would've accidentally woken up dallas' ghost by being back and dallas targets rusty for possession. the possession would've delved into omegaverse in a fun way — rusty was born a beta and thought of himself as straight and when dallas possessed him, he'd change to an alpha and realize he was actually bisexual.

specifically for ponyboy, who's an omega and older than him. it would've delved into dallas slowly possessing him and it would've had rusty james working with his ptsd, fear of being alone, and waking up to his bisexuality (dallas voice: ponysexual) over the course of the series. it would eventually even out to dal/rusty/pony in that hierarchical order. (including a hysterical fic planned where rusty asked pony to top out of curiosity and pony almost had an out of body reaction over this LMAO)

anyway i like the idea that two of se's opposite protags had something going on. particularly with how rusty worships the past and the gangs? he'd have built ponyboy up so far in his head and when ponyboy lives up to it? oh man i think he'd have a blast. i also was thinking it of pony having to come into contact with his own legacy and something about that is Appealing.

i plan to go back to it after someone on here bitched about rustypony being a thing awhile back.

talk to me abt your rpatz casting pls

okay so the rpattz casting came out of batpony au with @kalonkakons. i couldn't not see rpattz as pony since we were playing with the premise that way. but the thing is, rpattz could be a convincing pony, esp in socs aus i feel.

for one, he has the unhinged little brother energy ponyboy has (cause he's a youngest unhinged little brother), def has that look to him that is pretty but can be a bit severe at times, and i think he absolutely plays up the weird, quiet kids parts of ponyboy. however since he originated in batpony aus... he's adult soc pony to me. withdrawn, weird, under the right circumstances intimidating.

like these are all big time pony faces/expressions to me. it strikes the right tenor/deer eye thing i envision him with. and a huge chord i have with soc au pony, no matter the variation, is that he wears his unhappiness a lot more openly than pony is allowed to have in canon. so it works for me a lot.

Disclaimer: nursey-patrol is my url yes and i have def fallen into fanon nursey when I was a lil less independent minded in the fandom but these facts still stand!!!

Fanon nursey is deadass racist. Either nursey is uwu soft boy to supposedly combat the stereotype of “strong” inhuman black men OR he’s a total asshole whose standoffish and a dick to everyone (specifically DEX). The uwu soft boy is out of character- Nursey is into poetry yes, but I dont know where the idea that Nursey is a stepping stone and doesnt fight back in fights came from cause canonically he gives as good as he gets! And in the fics/characterization where he isn’t a complete soft boy, he’s outright mean and out of hand with Dex. And then he gets penalized for doing so. He bullies Dex who is just the hapless white boy whose never seen a black person so of course he says some mean things!! And he’s a manly man so of course he’s blah about poetry.. why would expect him to try to understand his teammate tf??

I like nursey because he’s complex- Bitty is an unrealiable narrator and he only says a little bit- Nursey went to Andover, he speaks French (I think dont quote me), he fights with desk, he likes poetry. Thats plenty there!!!! What kind of poetry? What was Andover like as a black kid? What does he want to do with English? What EXACTLY is he passionate about- enough to break through the chill?? <= those questions are so compelling to me like what is this black hockey player up to! What are his experiences like!!!!!!

Instead we get “nursey loves Dex so much :) Dex is so mean to him and he likes it :) He’s mean to Dex and how ciuld he!1!!1 Dex doesnt know any better :)

Its also so focused on his looks which is annoying. You can really tell whose trying to flesh out characters and who thinks its fun to write a black character with no dad/no parents just for the dRaMA ! Im over it the only correct nursey interpretation is of me and my mutuals period

pink, tree, sky, hair 💖

pink — She looks good: her red hair is finally in a better looking mess of ringlets on her shoulders, her blouse is half buttoned, her scent smells good in the car with how tangy it is, and the light coming in the car does a good job not just illuminating the softness of her cheeks, but the way her skin is pink beneath it, how she looks so different from her buttoned up self in the street. It makes Cherry look even prettier than normal. "We've made out here before." (love and other natural disasters)

hair — "Sherri Agnes Valance, have you lost your mind?" A light blazes into the car, Dallas snatching his hand back, trying to shield his face. The door opens, and the man glaring down at her is an alpha man with red hair and angry blue eyes with an intimidating growl in his own throat. "What the hell are you doing?" (love and other natural disasters)

sky — Snow is around him, all around him and he knows that he's inhaling more and more cold in his throat. There's an awful pain against his shoulder, and the sky is so gray that it feels endless looking at it. (in the dollhouse)

tree — Dallas should've punched him harder – instead, he ignores both of the girls on the lawn, and looks at the house in front of him: it's not that bad for hickville maybe, but it's still an okay place. It's got two stories, though it doesn't seem to be too large. The yard isn't so bad, with a tree planted in the front that looks like it could use some care. The fact that it has a half broken swing on it makes Dallas wonder about the kids that surely lived there. The outside is a faded yellow, and he can see that there's a porch swing with a blanket on it. The door is the tip off that something is wrong: there's deadbolts on there that Dallas can see are broken, it's slightly crooked when he pushes it open, and he doesn't think things will get much nicer seeing it.

9. worst part of canon — s. e. hinton and matt dillon are both right when they said the "do it for johnny" line is the very worst line. for sinners.... i don't have a worst.

19. you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like… — i don't have shame or horror for things i like. i do hate it though when i like something popular in fandom because it's usually done terribly.

23. ship you've unwillingly come around to — purly, parry, jally. all three factions of that part of fandom are awful, annoying, ooc and generally altogether rancid. i have no sinners ships on that though.

28. your least favorite part of the writing process — if an idea doesn't click and i have to wrestle with it, i hate it. other than that i kind of love every step of the way.

29. how easy is it for you to come up with titles? — sometimes, really easy. i can think of them on a dime. sometimes though i'm stuck scrolling through endless lyrics and poetry trying to find one.

30. share a fic you’re especially proud of — saying fire in the sky or a little less conversation (a little more action) feels like cheating cause those are huge, seminal fics for me. kind of an underdog to me is dawn goes down to day (all that gold is rusting) because i think i did a pretty good job of showing the cracks and fall out of ponyboy's relationship with johnny via dallas and i will always have a soft spot for get busy living or get busy dyin' cause i put a lot into it.

🌅 | good question actually. a lot of fics that are one shots, yes. some chapter fics i absolutely do know the ending due to outlining. some though i don't know, or i have an ending but i wasn't able to get there in the road map i have. (this is happening big time with holy brother honestly.)

🔚 | fire in the sky was much different when i first conceived it. it was conceived as a slow burn with dallas fleeing form ponyboy and only returning at the last chapter for a kiss and them going forward after everything.

that ending died by like, chapter thirty LMFAO. dallas and pony tend to speed burn in my brain or have the longest angst ever and this changed a lot over the five (!!) years i've been working on it.
