For a period of 3 months during the end of last year, I traversed a big part of the country with United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) on a programme whose documentation seemed really challenging during its brief. The fact that it rotates around a very small element, yet its impact so humongous. That small element is Mobile Money for the Poor (MM4P) This is a programme launched by UNCDF in partnership with the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida), the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The MasterCard Foundation. MM4P provides support to digital financial services (DFS) in a select group of least developed countries (LDCs) to demonstrate how the correct mix of financial, technical and policy support can build a robust DFS ecosystem that reaches low income people in LDCs. For this project, our main focus rotated around farmers, especially cash crop farmers in the Eastern, Central and Western Ugandan regions. I am writing a more elaborate article to share on my blog soon (www.jjumbamartin.com)but for the meantime, why not have a look at these? #uganda #uncdf #Mm4p #development #farming #africa #mobileMoney #digitizing #kampala #reportage (at Kamuli District)
