🌼 kiko, i demand happiness
Happiness is found few and far between, but it is there. It’s in moments of levity with your siblings, echoing laughter and a feeling of home with them, despite all the ways it’s so fucked. In Freya when she speaks, and the way you savour every word. It’s in memories of the Gryffindor dorm, and a level of comfort that you never allowed herself to grow truly used to, but one that you harbour, still. The first night of term, and all the ones that follow. Red-and-gold on the walls. A feeling of safety with these girls. It’s in punching something just to let off some steam with Victoria, wiping your brow and going again, again, again. Fuck proper fighting technique, fuck it all ––– just fighting everything and nothing at the same time, and this feeling of togetherness that ties it all together. It’s in Archie’s twinkling eyes when there’s bound to be some mischief. It’s in finding the right shade of dark-red lipstick, or well – finding it in someone else’s pocket, and thinking you might like yourself a bit when you paint your lips with it. It’s in the soil of the greenhouses. It’s in reading a line in a book that makes your heart skip a beat, and clutching onto the pages as if they might save you. It’s in finishing that book and starting it again. It’s in seeing a dog on the street that approaches you and sniffs your hand as if you are not a monster at all.
