sometimes, hisako would watch her daddy's games from her uncle samu's booth while she munches on mini onigri balls he makes for her AAAA i love them sm
tsumu definitely complains afterwards about how it's his game but samu and hisako get to bond instead.
MY WIDDLE HISAKO BABY GOD AND I KNOW SHES GOT HER UNCLES APPETITE SO HE GETS HER ALL THE SNACKS SHE COULD WANT
She’s plopped on Osamu’s thigh during the whole game, grabbing fistfuls of onigiri, apple slices, tuna sandwiches, and sometimes even spoiling her with concession stand snacks, and every time, without fail, the camera cuts to her after her father has an amazing set or serve that causes a point, she’s got her cheeks puffed out with yummy treats 🥺
Atsumu loves to pretend he hates the way the two of them bond, but in reality, there’s not a set of people he’d rather have tease him when he messes up, or scream his name in the stands when he does well🥹🩷
uncle!osamu gets glasses, and it’s the worse thing to happen to Miya Hisako.
It’s nothing major, his eyes just slowly start to go awry from readings and focusings and just general age, and despite being young, he’d rather just jump on the horse with glasses now than let his sight get worse and worse with time.
He looks good with them! And they certainly do help with his vision, even if it’s a lighter prescription, it’s definitely nice to just see the world normally again.
But not everyone seems to take kindly to the new addition.
Namely that of your seven month old.
“Hey tiny,” he groans, crouching down to pick up the child, who is staring up at him. “Oh I missed you so much.” He plants a few kisses on her chubby cheeks, and is confused by her lack of affection back. Her eyes are focused on him, very intently, as if trying to look past him and into his soul, and he shivers slightly under her weirdly cold gaze.
“Sako? What’s wrong-“
Just before he can finish, Hisako absolutely screams. Her vocal chords shake, her face screws shut, and she starts flailing and kicking herself from Osamu’s grip. He’s horrified, he’s so upset, and he’s trying his hardest to not get smacked by her waving hands and kicking feet. He tries to soothe her, shush and hold her close- maybe he pinched her by accident?- but it isn’t until one tiny fist swats at Osamu’s face and knocks the glasses clean from his nose that you intervene- just as Atsumu storms in to maul whatever creature was distressing his baby.
Brown eyebrows furrow in fury as they land on the blanched Osamu, who’s heart is currently in the process of shattering.
“I’ll kill you-“
“‘Tsumu, relax,” you sigh, grabbing your child from Osamu’s arms and bending down to pick up the frames from the floor. “I was right here, he didn’t do anything.”
“With her screaming like that, he must’ve!” The blonde accused, but with the glare you send him, he shuts his mouth pretty quick.
“No, I didn’t,” Osamu hisses; he’s trying hard to not cry, but you don’t say anything about it. He’s already hurt enough at his niece’s reaction that you’d hate to draw attention to it. “Whatever. Let’s just have dinner.”
And dinner goes no better. Hisako won’t eat, she’s just staring at Osamu with all of her might, and osamu can’t bring himself to look at her. And despite Atsumu’s efforts to make small talk, you all finish your food in predominant silence.
He’s an absolute mess, he doesn’t know what he did but he wants to fix it, because a life where Miya Hisako hates him is not a life he's about to live.
With dinner done, you tell him to go sit and relax, calm himself down from his impending meltdown before dessert- it's met with one hell of a fight from the chef, but in the end he relents and settles on the couch. As he removes his glasses to apply pressure to his eyes with fingers, he hears a happy little coo just a few inches away.
Then, tiny hands paw at Osamu’s legs to be lifted up into his arms, but he hesitates. This, makes Hisako whine to be lifted, and he chews his lip before calling for Atsumu to remove the bundle of joy that’s hurting his heart. The blonde rolls his eyes, “you could pretend to want your niece-“
“Atsumu, enough,” you snarl, but it’s not enough to stop osamu from sighing as he puts on his glasses, hoping to ease the migraine in his head.
When Hisako tries to squirm away again, your brow quirks.
“Osamu,” you say softly. “Take those off.”
“Why-“
“Because I said so.”
“Yeah, you know better than to question my better half,” Atsumu scoffs, grabbing a pastry to stuff into his mouth shamelessly.
The chef grumbles before doing so, and after a few minutes of staring, she smiles and coos for her uncle’s attention.
“Osamu, your glasses!” You laugh. “It’s your glasses!”
Three heads tip cutely in confusion for your words. You roll your eyes, “she doesn’t recognize you with your glasses. You probably scared her earlier, she doesn’t recognize it’s you!”
To test your theory, Osamu puts his glasses on once more, and the infant whines and tries to burrow against atsumu, and when osamu removes the frames and taps her on the leg to look at him, Hisako eagerly reaches out for him.
“Oh thank god,” Osamu says in one quick breath, taking the child from Atsumu and into his own arms, nuzzling into her neck and smoothing down the little wisps of hair on her head and squeezing her tightly while she giggles and plays with his hair in chubby fingers.
“I think you actually just saved my brother,” Atsumu says in amazement, and you shrug with a smirk before taking a sip of your tea.
Also just wanted to let you know your uncle samu/ dad tsumu Drabble gave me baby fever 😭😭😭 pls spare some more crumbs of those two if you can !!
Vacay was okay, thank ya baby! Definitely glad to be home but grateful we were able to get away for a bit 🥰❤️
bUT IM A L W A Y S DOWN TO SPARE ALL I CAN FOR DAD TSUM AND UNCLE SAMU-
———
“Okay, don’t look!”
Atsumu sounded excited, far too excited for the night ahead, and you chuckle as you pass the last child in the group their last piece of candy before closing the door. It was the first Halloween Hisako could walk on her own, and he was beyond excited for the possibilities of costumes with his baby.
And despite the way Atsumu wanted to hide his excitement when Osamu asked if he could trick or treat with them too, you could tell just by the way they’d eyed costumes for the past week that they were far more excited for this than your two year old knew how to be.
“I’m not looking,” you assure, watching the group of kids and their parents toddle down the path of your home. Behind you, you hear the giggles of your daughter and the shuffling of feet, and you keep your promise to keep looking away even though you’re eager to see what they came up with.
“Alright momma,” Atsumu hums, his voice a few feet behind you. “You can turn around.”
Instantly, you do, and your hands immediately come up to cover your mouth at the adorable sight.
Standing before you, decked out in the most easy, comfortable costume they could find, were the famous Miya Twins, dressed as Mike Wazowski and Sulley, the blonde Sulley holding a pink-pajama clad Hisako in his blue arms.
The twins looked so warm you were almost jealous, in their onesies, Osamu’s green hood pulled up and over his head to expose the single eye, while Hisako plays with the blue fur on Atsumu’s own onesie. They look comfortable and positively adorable, and your heart flutters at the sight of the two men blushing as you stare at them with that grin of yours.
“Oh my gosh!” You coo, your hands instantly coming up to cover your mouth. “You three look so cute!”
“Boo!” Hisako cheers, and you watch with complete love in your eyes as the two grown man gasp in fear, their heads whipping towards her in a rehearsed manner. You can’t help but absolutely beam at the sight of the two men in front of you, committed to making a new memory with their favorite little girl.
“How on earth did you come up with this?” You hum, making your way over to Atsumu. You plant a kiss to his cheek, relishing in the way his skin warms up under the affection.
“Well, it was hard to find a trio costume without a… uh…” Osamu gestures to himself “feminine persona-“
“I told you, there were plenty of same-sex couple costumes-“
“Yea, and I told you, that they were still couple based, and that was weird- I’m your brother.”
You snicker at their back and forth for a few more minutes before sighing, “what about Mario and Luigi? Wario and Waluigi? You could’ve made fake jerseys of your high school numbers and been each other. Burger and Fries, Shaggy and Scooby, buzz and woody, you could’ve been sleepy and sneezy and she could’ve been Snow White-“
“Okay, we get it, we had a lot of options,” Atsumu snorts, casting a look to his brother, who’s now rubbing his eyes with his thumb and forefinger. “How about I say we chose this costume because when we’re done, she’s in her pj’s?”
“I’ll allow it,” you say sweetly. You rise slightly on your tiptoes to gently pinch Hisako’s nose, beaming as she squeals happily, “but I just know you two will be the cutest monsters on the block.”
“Ahem,” Osamu clears his throat dramatically. “I think you mean, three.”
“Of course,” you say, furrowing your brows and nodding in agreement. Your face softens and you pass Osamu a little pumpkin head meant for candy, “go. She has no known allergies and I like fruity candies. Have fun. Be safe.”
“We will, momma,” Atsumu assures, nudging his head towards the door. “You be safe too. Lots of monsters out tonight.”
You roll your eyes in amusement for his double entendres, “I will be. Oh! And take plenty of pictures! I want some for Granny’s gift, since we didn’t get any last year.”
“You got it, baby,” Atsumu chuckles, pressing a kiss to your head. “We’ll be back soon.”
Sure enough, just about an hour later, when Osamu’s got a sleeping Hisako on his back and Atsumu with a full pail of candy, it’s safe to say Operation: First Halloween was a success.
Especially as you hear them talking about costumes for next year as they make their way to you, in the living room.
while we're on the topic of uncle samu i'm thinking,,
atsumu absolutely despises asking samu to babysit and only does it as a last resort because everytime he picks baby miya up or samu has to finally leave, there will always be a dramatic tearful goodbye between uncle samu and baby miya :,)
GIVE👏🏻ME👏🏻ALL👏🏻THE👏🏻UNCLE👏🏻SAMU👏🏻IDEAS👏🏻
Atsumu will call anyone, literally anyone but Osamu to watch baby Miya, he just knows exactly how it will end and he’s so not in the mood for it.
His mother has a cold and she doesn’t want to spread germs, Kita offers him a collected but quick apology, Bokuto’s sisters are off on their own day, the PR manager for the black jackals is on her own meeting, and Atsumu finally waved the white flag and calls Osamu to please watch her.
“Osamu, is there any way you can keep an eye on your niece for the day? Just until I get home, wifey’s out with her friends tonight.”
“My niece has a name you know, but yes, drop her off at the restaurant, pick her up whenever.”
And baby miya is so excited, of course she is, she loves her uncle, and deep down, atsumu is thrilled that he can leave her with his brother and know she’s beyond safe- but that doesn’t discount the betrayal he feels when it comes time to pick up baby miya, and there’s an absolute flood of tears.
He interrupts Osamu’s flurry of goodbye kisses and nuzzling into her pudgy cheeks and repeated “love you, love you, love you”s with a clear of his throat, and when Osamu finally tries to pull away, her tiny arms dart up to wrap around his neck, the saddest little pout on her face disappearing as she burrows her face against him.
“Come on, Stinky, don’t you want to go home and see momma?” Atsumu tries, down on his knees with his arms open, trying to coax his toddler to come back to him.
Which, when she tightens her grip on Osamu’s neck and shakes her head, all that patience flies out the window and turns into defeat. He loses his pride and gives Osamu a pleading look, only for Osamu to give his brother a small smile and a look of “I’m trying.”
“Tickle monsters gonna get you if you don’t let go,” Osamu threatens playfully, and while this makes baby miya giggle, it doesn’t falter her grip- if anything, they hear a sniffle, and the twins absolutely feel their heart break.
“I know, munchkin,” Osamu mumbles softly, squeezing her with a dramatic groan of effort in attempts to make her laugh. “But I’ll be over to play soon, I promise.”
“Promise?”
“Cross my heart, sweetness.”
“Not if I have anything to say about it,” Atsumu grumbles, but he smiles hopeful when Osamu sends baby miya off with a kiss on her head and a quiet “go on,” and pat on her back, watching as she toddles up and into her daddy’s arms, an equally tight grip around his neck. Atsumu sighs in relief, “missed you, my baby.”
“Missed you too, daddy,” she hums, her tiny hand waving a small goodbye to Osamu before hiding her face In Atsumu’s neck.
“Appreciate you, ‘Samu,” Atsumu sighs, flashing his brother a grateful smile. Osamu shrugs and claps his twin on the back, “anytime, dude.” A malevolent grin splays over his face, “you know how much she loves me.”
call me crazy but i feel like osamu likes being a bachelor who also loves kids, so the minute he hears he's going to be an uncle, he absolutely looses his mind because hes so excited :(
HEY WOW YOURE SO RIGHT-
Like Atsumu is so excited to tell his brother that he’s going to be an uncle, it takes everything in his power to not say anything every time he sees Osamu (which is like. Every other day come on now) until the tiny, colorful Vans’ shoes come in, and he can wrap them up with the pregnancy test. Just so happens that the shoes come just two weeks before their shared birthday, and he literally has to avoid Osamu to avoid word vomiting about the tiny human on the way.
But the night of their birthday, it’s their mom, some close friends, you, osamu and atsumu, and it’s quiet and intimate and when it’s finally time for cake and cards, Atsumu smiles innocently as he plops a colorfully wrapped present on the table, and osamu looks up from his cake with a scowl. “I thought we agreed no gifts,” he grumbles, clearly embarrassed that he absolutely did not get his brother a gift. Atsumu shrugs, “I know ya good for it.”
“I don’t want it.”
“Yeah, you do,” Atsumu promises, using one finger to push the box closer to him. “Come on- from me and the better half. Open it.”
And Osamu’s eyes flick between his brother, you, then to his mom and a few of his friends, who are just grinning back because they already know and they’re just so excited for the reveal, before he sighs in annoyance, grabbing the box and tearing the wrapping off of it, a confused brow quirking high on his head when he sees the teeny tiny shoebox, and he looks at his brother, “uh.. don’t think these’ll fit me, dude.”
Atsumu offers his brother a deadpanned look, “maybe your gift is inside the box, dickhead.” And Osamu scoffs and shakes his head, mumbling a soft “dumbass,” before he flips up the top, and his large grey eyes glaze the contents. His eyes widen in realization, and large hands tighten their grip on the cardboard, the colorful tiny shoes contrasting greatly against the brown of the box, but his eyes just repeatedly look over the 3 positive pregnancy tests that lay on the shoes. Atsumu rests his chin on his palm, still smiling dopily as Osamu’s head turns to Atsumu. “This ain’t funny, ‘Tsumu.”
“Good, ‘cause I’m not tryna be.”
“Atsumu-“
“You like the color of the shoes though?”
“ARE YOU SERIOUS?”
The blonde twin stands up to hug his still blind-sided brother, “hope you like your gift, ‘cause we’re not returning it.”
And at this point, a smile finally starts to splay over Osamu’s face, grey eyes contrasting against the reddening of his sclera’s as he rises and absolutely squeezes his brother in a hug, breathless with a swirling mind as he still tries to grasp his brothers gift. “You’re gonna be an uncle, bro,” Atsumu whispers, ecstatic about Osamu’s reaction. The usual big, tough Osamu tucks his face in Atsumu’s neck to try and hide his crying, but his heaving shoulders aren’t fooling anyone, and Atsumu just smacks him on the back in comfort.
“Thank you,” he whimpers, and when Atsumu turns to look at you, his face is dropped in pure surprise and he mouths a “oh my god!” to everyone in the room.
Finally Atsumu pulls away and says “go hug my better half, what’re ya doin?” and when Osamu’s teary eyes find yours, he’s laughing to see you recording him, he’s just so excited he’s nearly vibrating. He stalks over to you, pulling you in a ridiculously tight hug around your shoulders. “This is the best gift I’ve ever gotten,” he sniffles against you. Then, you feel him smile, “she’s already got me wrapped around her finger.”
You chuckle back and plant a kiss his temple, “she?”
When he pulls back, his grin is spread wide over his cheeks and the tear tracks shine against the light, “I just know she’s gonna be a princess.”
@meloomi @icedhoneyy I’m so sorry, the brainrot was too much-
————
As far as Osamu knew, he was running away from something.
It wasn’t anything scary, but he and Kita-San were making an absolute mad dash for what seemed like the gate- though he couldn’t tell you where they were- but were suddenly stopped by an ice cream man, which Kita-San seemed to think was vital for their escape.
However, the ice cream man started to cry when Osamu tried to keep running away, and he wouldn’t let the pair pass, so Osamu-
“Uncle ‘Mu!” A tiny voice whines, prompted by a small smack on his cheek, making Osamu jerk awake from his rather bizarre dream in surprise. His grey eyes fly open and he forces them to focus on the figure next to him on the bed, blinking and sighing in relief when his brain registers it’s only his niece disturbing his sleep.
At any other hour, he would’ve been thrilled to see his niece, but at 1:42 in the morning…
“Hisako,” he yawns rubbing his eye with the heel of his palm. “Why’re you up?”
“Nightmare,” she whimpers, voice warbled slightly from suckling on her stuffed dog’s ear. “S-scared…”
Immediately, he rises on his elbows to look at her wide, glimmering eyes. “Oh, sweetheart,” he hums, voice rasped with sleep. “I’m sorry you had a scary dream.” His legs swing out from the bed and he grabs a discarded shirt from the floor. After he slips it on, he opens up his arm for her to crawl into and snuggle, which she does needily. “What’s gonna help put that smile back on your face, hm?” He prompts his question with a soft pinch of her cheek, and she giggles and ducks her face away.
“Uhm…” wide honey eyes roll in thought. “Can I have s’me chocolate milk?” She asks, spitting out the dog ear to give Osamu the biggest, sweetest begging eyes he’s ever seen.
He lets out a deep sigh and a chuckle, “you are definitely my niece,” he says, laughing softly. “Alright, yeah. Let’s go have some chocolate milk.” He rises from the bed and scoops Hisako up and into his arms, drowsily walking through his home to the kitchen.
He plops her down on the counter with a soft hum and a kiss to her head, only parting to grab two glasses- one mug with his college mascot on it, hers a plastic cup with an ocean scene on it- and shuffle to the fridge.
“Uncle ‘Samu?” Hisako asks, voice muffled around the dog’s ear.
“Yeah baby?”
“What do growed-ups dream about?” She asks, honey eyes blinking up at him curiously. Osamu hums in thought as he pours the milk and grabs the chocolate syrup, pouring more than a hefty amount in each cup like she and him like.
“Well,” he sighs, grabbing a spoon and stirring the chocolate vigorously. “We dream about… lots of things.”
“Like?”
Osamu snorts, “like,” he passes her the milky spoon for her to lick clean. “I dream about your dad a lot; sometimes it’s normal things, like him coming by and asking for a huge bowl of miso soup-“ at his emphasis, Hisako giggles around the spoon, and he smiles at the sound. “Other times, he’s a super secret spy with a pen that shoots lasers, and he rides a motorcycle with Uncle Bokuto’s face on it.” This, thankfully, has Hisako cackling, and he chuckles himself as he passes the milk to her tiny hands, murmuring a soft “two hands” to remind her how to hold her cup steady. “Even tonight, I had a dream with Uncle Shin, and he… well, I don’t really know what we were doing to be honest.”
She takes a sip and looks up at Osamu with excited eyes and a milk mustache, “does that mean no more nightmares?”
“Well,” he sighs, taking a sip of his chocolate milk. “Not necessarily, babyface.” She deflates, and Osamu kicks himself. “They certainly don’t happen as much, but when grown ups have nightmares…” he pauses to think, and when he looks down at her still intrigued face, he smiles and wipes her lip with his thumb.
“We’re able to think of the things that make us feel better.”
“Like what?”
“Like…” he rolls his eyes around in thought. “Like you make me feel better. And I’d fight every monster in the world if it meant I could see my bestest friend.” Hisako nods as she takes a long sip of her milk, hanging onto his words. “Or… the doggie I passed on the street-“
“I like doggies!”
“-I know stinky,” he chuckles. “And I think about how soft its fur was.” He polishes off the rest of his milk with a sigh of refreshment. “Maybe that’s something you could do; think about all the things that make you happy. Then no monster stands a chance against the good dreams you’ll have.”
She beams up at him before discarding her glass of milk to the side, reaching her arms up to have him lift her. “I take it you’re done?” Osamu asks, to which she nods happily. “Alright then. Let’s get you back into bed. Gotta get some sleep if you’re gonna help me at Onigiri Miya tomorrow yeah?”
“Yeah!” She says excitedly, popping the dog’s ear back into her mouth and resting her head in the crook of Osamu’s neck. “I like your chocolate milk more than when daddy makes it, Uncle ‘Samu,” she mumbles, and Osamu can hear the bliss in her voice as he carries her to his bedroom to hopefully ward off any more nightmares that dare want to plague her mind.
He snorts, “‘cause I make it right.”
He puts her body on one side of the bed before climbing into his side, and when he’s finally able to settle back in, he smiles as Hisako is nearly back to sleep, her doggies ear in her mouth and fingers gripping the corner of Osamu’s pillow for comfort.
“Good night, Hisako,” he says softly, turning back on his stomach and nuzzling into his pillow, careful to avoid her tiny fingers.
“Night uncie,” she mumbles, voice light with sleep and head nuzzling into her own pillow on her side of the bed.
Lovingly, he moves a lock of hair out of her face, watching her lips rise and fall with the sleepy breaths falling from them, and despite knowing he’s going to be a wreck getting up in the morning, he can’t be mad about the memories he’s making with his favorite person.
@meloomi THIS IS SO MEAN OF YOU IM ALREADY SO OBSESSED WITH UNCLE ‘SAMU AND BABY MIYA BEING CLOSE AND I JUST KNOW TSUMU IS SO BETRAYED U G H H H
Atsumu comes home from practice to see you and osamu on the floor, with messily folded “menu’s” and play food on plates while baby miya wears Osamu’s hat to play “Onigiri miya” and Atsumu just plucks her from the floor and throws her onto his back and is like just like “no I want to go watch The Little Mermaid and you’re coming.” he’s such a chILD brb I’m going to THROW myself into a ring of fire 😭❤️
hit me with some of that uncle samu serotonin please 🥺💅🏼
How about we talk about the first time baby miya loses a tooth?
It’s a pretty normal thing, she’s been playing with it and wiggling it all day and the sight alone is making Osamu nauseous- he’s never been good about teeth and blood in general- but she just wants it out so bad!
It hurts, she can’t eat, it’s so close to coming loose but not close enough, and Osamu so badly wants to do what his mother would do and pull it himself with a gentle tug and a tissue, but he already knows Atsumu will murder him for it.
So, he lets her play with the loose tooth and do her thing, he sets her up with the fruit salad Atsumu packed her before moving to get started on dinner, and everything seems to be normal.
Too normal, apparently.
What Osamu had failed to realize is just what was in the fruit salad, and the sliced apples Atsumu had cut for her, and who would the gods be if not making Osamu’s life absolute chaos?
“Uncle ‘thamu?” A tiny voice mumbles, so quiet he can barely hear it, tugging his pant leg needily. Osamu hums, but continues to stir the broth easily without casting her a look.
“What’s up short stack?”
“Uhm…” her voice trails off, and finally Osamu stops his stirring, brows furrowed in confusion. “I did some’fing bad…” her uncle perks up at her words and looks down at her in concern. One of her tiny hands stays wrapped around the fabric of his pant leg, the other covering her mouth as if to hide something from him.
“Okay,” he says, uneasy. “Do you feel comfortable telling me what you did?” Hisako shakes her head, the action causing her to hiccup with a whimper of discomfort and a soft “uh-oh.”
“What?” Osamu asks, instantly alarmed. “What-what-what’s uh-oh, don’t say uh-oh-“ he immediately notices where her hands are, and his eyes bug out of his skull. “Hisako?”
“…yeah?”
“Where’s your tooth?”
“It was an accident!” She whimpers, pulling back her hands to reveal blood, and Osamu feels woozy. He braces himself against the counter and takes a deep breath because there’s no way, there’s absolutely no way-
“What’s an accident?”
“I ‘fink I swallowed it!” She wails, and Osamu knows his reaction is playing a direct hand in her fear but right now, all he’s scared of is if this will make her sick, or if it’ll hurt her, or how the hell she even managed to swallow a goddamned tooth.
“Okay,” he says, crouching down to be eye level with the now crying child. “Okay- number one, don’t cry, okay?” He uses his thumb to wipe her eyes free of tears, “it’s alright, you didn’t mean to, and I’m not mad at you-“
“Promith?” She interrupts, using her sleeve to rub her eyes. Osamu smiles, “I absolutely promise you, ‘Sako, I’m not the least bit mad, okay? I just wanted to make sure you were safe, because I was a little scared too, okay?” When the small girl nods, he continues.
“Number two, let’s keep this our little secret okay?” He asks, extending his pinky out for her to lock against, and she does with excited eyes. “You know how you and I kept chuupet’s with dinner a secret?”
“Uh-huh!”
“So we need to do that again, yeah? Promise?” He kisses the tip of his thumb in a means to symbolize the solidification of the pinky swear, and Hisako does the same with her thumb.
“Okay- okay, number three,” he pokes his tongue in his cheek to stifle a laugh, and at the sight of her uncle no longer as concerned, Hisako laughs with him. “Number three… how did you manage to swallow a tooth?”
“Well,” she begins, small finger tapping at her chin. “I ‘fink it came out in the apple daddy packed me for snack time, but it really hurt so I swallowed the bite ‘cause I get scared.”
“So you lost it in the apple?”
“I ‘fink so,” she pouts. “Daddy doesn’t like it when I spit food, ‘n so I got scared of that too so I thought I had to swallow it. ‘N then felt bad so I wanta tell you…”
Stupid Atsumu and his stupid goddamned words and stupid face and stupid hatred for spit-
“Okay. We’ll circle back to that later,” Osamu says exhaustedly. “For now, does your tummy hurt? Do you feel sick?”
The child shakes her head, and osamu relaxes. “Okay. I need you to take a huge breath for me okay? Like this-“ he makes a show of a dramatic inhale to make Hisako giggle some more, but anything to keep her calm so he can make sure she’s alright through all the bases.
Hisako does as her uncle asked her to do, and an absolute weight is lifted off of his shoulders when he sees that she can breathe normally without choking; so she swallowed the tooth in one go.
“My ‘froat hurts,” she confesses, and Osamu nods and plays with her hair, “yeah, you swallowed a tooth, stinky,” he teases, tickling her neck and making her duck away.
“How about we get you some nice, cold applesauce, and I’ll make you some of my special onigiri for ya?” He offers, knowing he has his niece’s utmost attention when her eyes widen into saucers.
“With extra tuna?” She asks excitedly, bouncing in her seat.
“That’s the one, baby face.”
She beams up at him and god, Osamu is constantly surprised at how much he loves the sight. “Your dad’ll be here soon, so again, ya gotta promise me we’ll keep this a secret yeah?”
Deep down, Osamu is hoping she’ll say she lost it on the way home, put his brother in a frenzy, but that quickly comes crashing down when Atsumu steps foot into his brothers apartment, and his favorite tiny human dashes towards him.
“Daddy! Daddy!” She says eagerly and lifts her arms up to be carried, and Atsumu’s just so not used to her being excited to leave Osamu’s, he smiles and immediately lifts her up and into his arms.
“How’s my favorite lady?” He hums, planting wet kisses over her cheeks and making her giggle. Then, he looks and gasps at the sight of her missing tooth, and he bounces her happily, “baby! Your tooth! Oh, I can’t believe I missed it!” She beams at her dad excitedly, and nods her head, “‘s okay! Is’s gone anyways!”
“Hey, ‘Sako, my bestest friend, remember we talked about-“
“What do you mean it’s gone,” Atsumu snaps, shooting daggers at Osamu. When Hisako opens her mouth to answer, Osamu quickly interrupts with a pinch of her cheek to make her giggle and keep from answering.
“It came out in the apple you packed her,” he says, using all the authoritative tone he has to somehow pin this on his brother. Clearly it’s working too, because Atsumu’s brows unfurrow as he blanches. “And she swallowed it, because you don’t like her spitting out food. Do you realize how careless both of those are!”
Atsumu pouts- physically, actually pouts- and he looks down at Hisako, who has no real idea what’s happening but she’s smiling happily at Atsumu none the less.
“I’m sorry, baby,” he sniffles. “That… that must’ve been so scary for you… did it hurt? Are you okay?”
“Uh-huh!” She says cheerfully. “Uncle ‘Samu made me his special onigiri to make me feel better!”
Atsumu sighs in relief and hugs her tightly, planting a kiss to her warm cheek, “I’m glad, baby,” he hums, nudging his nose against her. Then, he tenses, “now to face the wrath of your mother.”
Hisako giggles. And Osamu grins, blessed to come out of this unscathed.
