#unclekev (@kevinxcat ) tagged us on #whereareyoufrom. Looong ago, a girl wanted a kitten. She printed pictures of flat-faced babies, put them in her binder, and assigned which of her friends was each one. She went through life and ended up on a plane to St. Petersburg, Russia during grad school. On this flight, she met a woman in a large fur coat who was from Texas. The woman ended up being in Russia to judge an international cat show. They talked (the woman told her how many cats she had- “two… MANY!”) and she told the woman she was interested in a cat, especially an exotic shorthair. The woman told her that North Carolina had some really beautiful exotics, which made the girl excited. Time passed and the girl researched and got an exotic adult from a NC cattery, but she still wanted a kitten. She was a poor teacher and asked the owner if she had any discount kittens- she did! A black and white one who was not “show quality.” The girl drove 3 hours and met the goofy four-month-old, Billy! She loved him, but wanted to play with the other kittens while she was there. The owner brought out a GORGEOUS orange baby. “This is his brother- he’s going to be our next show cat.” The girl took Billy home and all was well. Her adult cat, Molly Pockets, was very ill prior to getting Billy- and things kept getting worse. The cattery insisted she had not been sick there and the vets had no answers. Wanting Molly to have the best life possible, the girl took her back to the place where she was last known to have been well (update- she was almost instantly better as soon as she got back and is now in a happy home!). While there, the cattery owner offered a trade, understanding how sad she was. The trade was Walker! The girl could not believe her luck in such a low time. Failed on the show circuit after only six months. She decided to take him home after hearing how eerily similar his habits and demeanor were to his brother’s. She picked him up and the cattery owner said, “there’s only one problem… and you probably already feel it…” #waterbeard. The girl took on the challenge and reunited this silly duo of twins. 😻 We would love to hear #whereareyoufrom from all of you!
