He didn’t listen. All he did was shove her away and did what he planned to do regardless. He barely gave her any time to react. 

Her fingers dug into the dirt, wanting to push herself up. Scream. Fight.  Do something. 

Anything than lying here and watching him sacrifice himself. However, her body refused to move. ‘Move. Move!! Get up!’ If she couldn’t yell out loud, then she’d have to yell at herself. Her arms burned from the effort while her legs refused to move. That’s fine, she’ll simply use her arm strength to push herself up. That’s fine.

‘It’s fine. It’s---’ A sudden overwhelming source of heat erased any more thoughts she had. For a few seconds, she couldn’t see but once she opened her eyes, she noticed John looking right in her direction. She couldn’t see his eyes, but it was enough for her to feel tears forming within her own. Why was he doing this? Why wouldn’t he allow her to help? 

No, she knew the reason. He said it himself; he wanted to protect them. And if they couldn’t do it, then he was the only one who could. But she didn’t want this at all. Just as much as he didn’t want to see them hurt, they didn’t want to see him go through all the turmoil either. By the time it stopped, Hibiki was still staring at him. Only when he fall did she realize the damage done. 

Prelati, Saint Germain, and Cagliostro were gone. Not a single hint of seeing where they went popping up.  ‘Maybe they’re...maybe they left...’  But she knew that wasn’t true. He killed them. Just like that. They may have been enemies, but she didn’t...want them to die. She didn’t want to kill them.

She didn’t want John to sacrifice himself for that. Despite how hard her body seemed to refuse, Hibiki made her way towards the older man, placing her hands on his shoulder to shake him. The heat radiating from his back threatened to burn through her gloves but she kept her hands firmly on him regardless. “P-Please say something...” ‘Please don’t say anything.’ “Please say you’re okay...that it’ll be fine.” ‘Please don’t lie to me.’

“S-Say something...!!”

Maria tensed slightly, taken by surprise from the sudden embrace, but quickly eased herself into it as she leaned back against Thel’s body.

“Thank you, my dear.” She said before raising a hand to caress his cheek, looking up at him. “I am also blessed to have met you, someone who I share my life and thoughts with.” Tiptoeing, Maria planted a kiss on his chin. He really is tall!

“ As for me, aside of the usual engagements against the Grimm and now some people wearing white clothing; I’m still doing my best to survive. That is why I am so glad to see a friendly face “

The alien stood silent for a moment, wondering if he could ask the questions that has been bugging him since a few days ago; once he gained enough determination he looked at the girl again

“ Miss Pyrrha, may I ask something ? The people I have been fending off have animal features on them, is that normal in your world ….. or those are the result of a strange illness ? “

Pyrrha bobbed her head in a quick nod. Yes, I’m still working on becoming a Huntress, she affirmed, and I’m definitely learning a lot! Hopefully, she’d be able to put all that information to good use, and although she doubted the Grimm could be eradicated within a single generation, at least she and the others were working to make Remnant a safer world.

She tilted her head slightly at his mention of combat against people wearing white clothing--oh, was he talking about the White Fang, perhaps? She hadn’t thought that they would attack someone like Thel, clearly not human or Faunus, but maybe they thought he was another kind of Grimm, despite lacking any common similarity with the darkness-creatures Huntresses and Huntsmen fought on a regular basis.

I’m happy that you’re unhurt, the red-haired girl scribbled down, understanding that even if he might be adjusting to this world’s rhythm, that it was still difficult to learn about an entirely different way of life. And I’m sorry we haven’t had the opportunity to speak more, I might have been able to make it easier for you to be here.

Her eyebrows rose a little at the question, unexpected at first but understandable, since she didn’t believe the Faunus had ever come up in their past conversation. Those people are known as Faunus, she explained, and that’s simply the way they are, it’s not the result of an illness. The ones you met are likely members of the White Fang, a Faunus civil rights group that’s recently turned to more...violent endeavors to reach their goals.

Hibiki sighed, finally being freed from her classes. How relaxing this was; no more yelling! So once she noticed his text, Hibiki nodded with enthusiasm and wasted no time to respond back.

‘Sounds like a plan!’

So who could she bring along and who would would like to join? Miku would be the obvious choice, but maybe he would like to have someone else tag along? Chris and Tsubasa would be pretty fun to bring too! So many different choices. Well, after speaking to everyone about it, she managed to convince Tsubasa and Chris at least, with Miku planning to come later after taking care of a few things. Kirika, Maria and Shirabe chose to spend some time together after a while. And so---

“Okay, so this guy is supposed to be here, when?” “I told him when and where, so he should be here soon! Don’t worry!” “This is a nice chance to relax, Yukine. Let’s enjoy it while we can.”

Yeah, having the time to relax was more precious than anything. Even over the coming days she kept trying to figure out what they haven’t seen and what to explore once he got here. Despite the early preparation, she still felt unprepared. Couldn’t let anyone else know that.

“We’ll have fun! Don’t you worry!” “If you planned all this, I sure hope so.”

By the time she got there, Hibiki took note of the various amounts of Noise in this area. It was obvious even before she noticed Thel, and she wasted no time punching through as many as she could. Despite requesting help, she knew he could handle himself just as good. 

“More! Unless you step forward with resolve...you can’t face the future.”

Once she made a path, practically meeting him halfway, she smiled in his direction. “You okay?”

  There wasn’t much of a warning when her lips moved in to meet his. Well, there never was any need for warning to these sort of things to begin with. They’d been together for a long while now and it was these small surprises that she loved giving him the most.

  “Are you comfortable in this position? Should I move?” Given, they were cuddled up with each other on bed with lots of space to spare. Maria only hoped she wasn’t cutting off blood supply to his arm by resting on it.
