I need big help. I'm a young artist on tumblr (I'm a senior in high school) with 10k+ followers. And that seems like it's amazing at first but the more and more people know about me, the more I'm poorly criticized (not even in an artistic manner to help me improve, but a lot of rude attitude). I feel as though everyone is watching me, waiting for me to mess up so they can jump on me for it...I don't care about when I get gay hate but art is my passion, you know...? How do I handle this??
You have to stay true to what you want to do and keep on striving to improve your skills; strive to succeed not to appease your fans, not to spite your detractors, but for yourself and the love of the craft! Being an artist, creative, or adviceman on the Internet with any kind of public following, you open yourself up to scornful criticism and it’s a price that’s paid for succeeding; you’ll attract haters. Some of their criticisms will be valid, but a great many will be steeped in jealousy, ignorance and hate; there will be people in this World who want only to tear others down, but you can’t let them succeed.
You can delete messages, blacklist certain tags with third-party apps, and Tumblr has tools you can use to block more egregious users from being visible in your askbox or notes. (For issues more serious, you can view tumblr’s guidelines for contacting Law Enforcement here: https://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/law_enforcement)
I’ve heard tell that there are certain tags related to Fairy Shark Mother that are soul-crushingly horrendous to read and I’ll never search them, but even if I did, I’d be like:
The fact is, you could be the walking incarnation of kindness and hope on this Earth and there’d still be those wanting to watch your spark fizzle, so you DO have to develop some mental armour.
If you find it still gets to you, my trick is to consider the source: Try to imagine the life of a person whose time is so unvaluable they have no better way of spending it other than haranguing an artist on the Internet. What kind/quantity of food do you imagine their computer’s keyboard to contain? Suddenly, the validity of their gripes diminishes somewhat, doesn’t it?
Anyway, I hope this helps in some small part. Also, our babies are all very gentle and if you want some more kind fans in your mix, we’re always happy to give one of our talented followers a plug! (Yes, that also applies for the rest of our artistic babies, too! We have a submission box for a raison!)

[[....Yeah, okay, >I< should RP better.
Sure thing, pony pal. Sure.
P.S. I'm not the one who said I was being digested. That was Chrysalis. People can say things inside of an RP and not mean them. But clearly you don't do that.]]
[[Alright, lets get started.
Above c/p'd because I can't very well capture my own sent posts and I figured this would be my next step. This would likely only cause drama if I had not omitted the name. This is the middle reply that I sent. I'm completely fine with constructive criticism. If you only criticize, and it is clearly not constructive in the least, I bid you the motherfucking door.
P.S. again, motherfucker. I've been RPing for 3 years in a serious/semiserious fashion. Prior to that, I had minor experience with horrible RP formats (GMod DARKRP, before finding TnB and OA gametype servers), and a little bit of excessive combat (when I was about 8 or so, around there, a friend of mine let me know about Furcadia, which is pretty great for furries and why I probably never had a problem with them because who the fuck doesn't like animals and everyone's human soooo). I'm very sure about what horrible RP is. I'm pretty damn sure I autobalance except in the case of dealing with godmodders, because I made an overpowered rebel at some point and ended up being talked about (in a highly depressive manner, seeing as I had no idea about this kind of thing). It's kind of the reason that I don't metagame, powergame, and usually try to help people with their RPing.
I know what horrible RP is, because I already outgrew that shit. And I reiterate, I am completely open to CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. I rarely block people, but I do block anon spam/hate directed at the mod instead of bitching about it. Seeing as the last time I asked for criticism/ways to improve, I got nothing, I am going to assume imperfection anyways because I'm not exactly a prideful cuntass.
