Congratulations to our piano students – Jesse Pierson, Mercy Young, and Rose van Dyne have been chosen to present at the Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA) Collegiate Chapters Piano Pedagogy Symposium that will be held January 14–15, 2017, at the University of North Florida.
MTNA is a prestigious national organization centered around the professional growth and support of music teachers. With 22,000 members, MTNA provides a diverse platform for collaboration, continuity and connection. This is the 6th Annual Collegiate Chapters Piano Pedagogy Symposium sponsored by MTNA, offering lectures from faculty and graduate students. This annual event is instrumental in building bridges of research and communication across the country.
From Justin Krawitz, Assistant Professor of Music, Piano & Piano Pedagogy:
“This national forum presents a fantastic professional development opportunity, and it is particularly impressive that two of the three students selected are undergraduates…Both undergrads have already been awarded grants from the Office of Undergraduate Research to support their travel to present at the Symposium.”
From Rose van Dyne, UNC’s MTNA Chapter President:
“We are absolutely thrilled to represent UNC at the national MTNA piano pedagogy symposium in Jacksonville, Florida this January. This is the second year our chapter will be attending this conference. More than anything, we are very excited to meet and network with other students and professionals in this field that share our same passions. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing you are surrounded by those who care about the same things as you.”
