2. Anything that youâd like to write but feel like youâre unable to?
fuckin' long fics. I just don't have the concentration and stamina to stay focused on the endeavour of a long fic. I'm sure you're acquainted with how tiring it can be to keep going chapter from chapter, not mention the fact that I really dislike publishing things I haven't finished. so I'd have to write the whole thing before even thinking about posting, and... yeah, it's too much. which annoys me also because I do have a wacky idea with a choral cast (remember the version where elves are reborn as literal babies? that one, except explored with all the buckets of emotional shock if not outright trauma it entails) that I fear only really works in the format of a multi-chapter story.
8. How slow is a slow burn?
this answer is going to be a cop-out but... just enough? hard to really explain, but it needs to be organic. if it feels like the story is dragging on for the sole purpose of slowing down that cooking process more, then the coherence of the plot to me is a bit lost. this isn't a hard and fast rule though, because I can enjoy a particular dynamic that is just in the ambiguous middle ground between types of relationships. but it needs to be intentional ambiguity as opposed to intentional "more stuff that's just there to delay the resolution". I think it just kinda triggers a response in me that's on the lines "if y'all talked like adults, or even made the smallest effort, this wouldn't be an issue", and if that happens then it's too slow.
21. Can you accurately predict how long your fics are going to be? If you can, whatâs your secret?
lol yes I can! I'm not sure what the secret is per se, but I know that it takes me about a month to (leisurely/when I have time and energy) write from 5k to 8k, and that that amount of words is to me the general best amount for a) presenting an issue, emotional or otherwise, b) developing it through 4-6 scenes, depending on length and complexity of the problem, c) wrapping it up with a solution or a satisfying enough change of cirumstance. make it two major problems at the start (or something more generalised), approximately double the wordcount. make it two povs with their own issues, double the wordcount. third major pov, 5k-8k more. adjust with variables at need. I've written enough things with a deadline that I can safely say these are my personal patterns. it probably helps that I am 99,99% an architect/plotter writer.
a small rough sketch of kitty sanses.... i bet that sans and red would be quite protective
