"I always was a crybaby, wasn't I, Chara”
✍ ahhh I don't know what character to send. Maybe justice from underlegacy?
My Justice from Underlegacy with their future husband. First dates are so nice
Underlegacy Integrity fell many years after Bravery. While not depicted here they lived a very long life, reaching at least 80+ years. They may not have left the biggest impact on the wider community of monsters of the underground but they were content to just live their life as authentically as possible. Those who had the privilege of knowing them loved them fiercely. They saw the fall of two humans during their lifetime, even outliving one of them. Their descendants continue their story.
First draft of how I think my Underlegacy Patience soul would look when they first fell versus after they lived to the limit of their natural lifespan. I’ve interpreted the red ribbon as a uniform necktie. I like to think Patience had the longest lifespan of the humans living 100+ years. Their one wish was to see another human before they died. A few years before they died the next human child fell fulfilling their wish.Â
Tell! Us! DETAILS! P LE ASE!!
Welp, it started at the beginning, I was writing down how I thought the shift would happen. This is where Asriel and Chara would fail their planned suicide-murder spree, and when I say fail, I mean instead of them failing on the surface in canon, Chara will fail to, you know, die! Basically I have Asriel spills the beans, Toriel and Asgore quickly give Chara an antidote, and the day is saved thanks to the power of love or whatever. So naturally, this got me thinking about the next step. How does the kingdom react to the news?Â
Since day one Monsters hopes and dreams have been bearing down on the shoulders of these two kids to the point where one was ready to off themselves if it meant they could fulfill those expectations. Monsters are invested in them, so they’re going to want to know Everything. Going forward I can’t imagine Toriel or even Asgore ever wanting to put that kind of pressure on them again not after seeing what it had almost done to one of them. They’re not going to let it happen again so they do what they have to, withdraw from the public eye, give their children a chance to grow up before they have to think about the responsibilities of looking after a kingdom. But then, there’s the news of Chara’s illness. If word got out that Chara was poisoned, whether self inflicted or not, all kinds of rumors could spread. the Underground is already a fragile emotional ecosystem, it rely’s a lot on monsters sharing the same train of thought. If a division occurred it could break the Underground. So this is when that train of thoughts leads me to the hush up campaign.
The royal family need to keep this under wraps so they release a blanket statement detailing the event as vaguely as possible, keeping the truth secret. Little do they know that this will cause a cascade effect throughout the events of UnderLegacy as it soon becomes the norm that anything that goes against the kingdom’s narrative is redacted, rewritten or erased. Thus, one of the key story threads that will connect everything together is born. Just a little mass conspiracy centered around royal propaganda, fun right? But of course, this is just part 1 of how everything got out of hand.
Underlegacy Kindness is where I probably take the biggest divergence from the original undertale. Unlike the other humans Kindness is born underground with one monster and one human parent. In this au only humans descended from monsters can use magic and are dubbed mages. Since monsters were sealed underground mages have long since disappeared from the surface and faded into legend. Boss monsters, similar to mages, can also be the result of a monster and human union. In fact Boss Monsters are more likely to be born over a human child in such cases. This is not to say there aren’t Boss monsters born from two non-boss monster parents, this is just considered a rarity. Kindness was the child of Justice and a fire monster. They are able to manipulate fire magic which helps with their passion for cooking.
Underlegacy Justice, falls a couple of decades after Perseverance. They too are taken in my Integrity, who has reached their senior years by this point. By this time Asgore and Toriel have started to show signs of aging, Asriel, having taken up the mantle of king decades prior begins taking an interest in the lives of the current humans. Despite his best efforts he couldn’t shake the feeling of being kept at a distance with the previous humans. Not close enough to consider them siblings, yet not so distant to consider them strangers. With the current humans he follows in the steps of his parents, attempting to assert himself as a role model, to a varying degree of success.
