So I was listening to this song and had a sudden burning need to draw my Undernoir version of Sans who, though he is a detective now, once upon a time used to sing and play at a speakeasy. (I don’t at all imagine him sounding like that singer linked, it was more just the vibe of the song. Plus it’s an all time fave of mine!)

This pic was an utter trial, though. wth was i thinking doing a background set in a city? *sweats* Pretty pleased with it, though, so I guess it was worth burning my entire weekend on X’D

Frisk + Prologue

Frisk is a child who performs magic tricks, always wearing a childlike magician's outfit and a tailor-made top hat.

His top hat had disappeared, and without it, no one would believe in his magic anymore.

Until someone said that whenever something is lost, all you have to do is visit the old church on Mount Ebbot and make a wish, and the thing will return to you twofold.

Frisk wandered the ruins of the church, walking in circles on the cracked floor and broken mosaics, repeating the same wish for the sixty-sixth time.

When suddenly he notices his top hat on a windowsill, with a black cat emerging from inside. It was magical, mesmerizing like a mist, a smiling piece of darkness hiding in the shadows and fleeing the winter sun.

"You are so interesting, so fearless, you would never give up, would you?"

"Your Will is admirable."

"You can call me Friend. I'm a friend to everyone who has that desire."

"Can I be your Friend?"

. . .

"...Excellent."

"My tail? Did you like it? It's admirable, isn't it?"

"Want to learn a new trick? I know tricks, I know all the tricks that exist, much greater than illusions and confetti, a magic that no magician has ever managed to perform."

"But I can't teach them."

"There's a man who can teach them to you."

"He's perfect."

"He's been waiting so long."

"He'll be very happy to see you."

"Follow my tail; as long as it's in front of you, you'll never be alone in the dark."

They ventured deeper and deeper into the church, devoid of any light, whose floor became increasingly steep until it was practically a free-falling gorge. Her feet and hands couldn't reach anything, but she was sure she heard the cat say "unwanted company?"

Frisk knows it took a long time to fall to the ground, she knows she was hurt and that her friend is no longer there, but there was nothing but pain, buzzing. Fear.

At least she could still hear the sound of her own crying.

— Hm? Who's there?

All the candles in the place lit up at once.

Was it still the church?

No, a different church. But equally abandoned by time.

A man stares at her as if he's found a monster in a closet. Well-dressed, made of a suit, tie, and red flames.

Trivia:

His top hat functions as an inventory and has infinite space. Frisk's first weapon is the magic wand, which only emits a glow when waved.

Frisk's tricks:

- Removing their thumb (creepy.)

- Coin behind the ear (5 cents)

- Card trick (it's always a wild card)

- Bouquet of flowers (how romantic)

- Doves in a top hat (wait, where did they come from?)

Hey! This is an AU I've been planning for a while. I've always liked imagining what it would be like if Frisk were cared for by Grillby instead of Toriel, plus I love the noir/decopunk aesthetic in general, so I decided to experiment with a mix of the two.

This AU has similarities to Mafiatale and Mobtale, but only in terms of vibe/atmosphere, possessing its own elements and rules.

It has an established story, but it's not yet fully structured, so I'll be posting it in wiki/topic/trivia format for now. The goal is to tell the story through the character sheets, as if they were real files being read (lol), but they will also have varied formats.

Sorry for the ugly cover, I really didn't have any art to illustrate it with, and I only had IbisPaint and a dream.
