The more you know! 😻🙊🐶Reposted from @canine.conditioning (@get_regrann) - !UNDERSTAND YOUR DOG BETTER ! A lot of clients who come to us for socialisation sessions find this behaviour of their dog sniffing other dogs from behind to be extremely unhygienic. A dog sniffing the rear part of another dog is as normal as us meeting someone and giving a hand shake. For dogs, this behaviour is extremely important because of the following reasons - 1) On the side of dogs anus, there are special glands that secrete chemicals. These chemicals help the dogs to know more about the members of their own species. 2) Gender - The chemicals help to know the gender of the dog I.e whether it is a male or female. 3) Age and Food - It helps to know how old the dog is and what has it eaten. 4)Health and Mood - It also helps to know how for the dog is and it’s current mood (happy, stressed etc) 5) These chemicals also let the dogs know whether they have met each other for the first time or they’ve met before. In short, all this helps the dog to decide on how to behave with the other companion of its own species ! PS - Next time your dog wants to meet some other dog, allow him/her to sniff and give him his own time to get comfortable with the other dog ! #canineconditioning #dogtraining #sniffbutts #understandyourdogbetter #theo #oreo #goldenretriever #dogsofinstagram #dogsofdelhi #dogs #dogsofinsta #dogstagram #dogslife #determineage #healthandmood #dachshunds #dachshundsofinstagram #longandlow #longandlowX4 #youmatter #yesyoudo #iloveyou (at Round Rock, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/B63c7hQHoiR/?igshid=1hwc8jecmlbmn
