Yea they are, here’s an old drawing I did. I might do some re designs of them. They’re actually the royal guards of Crazytale, which is why Crazy can understand amalgamation speech, his brother knows how to speak it fluently.

In CrazyTale the amalgamations are the royal guard. Proving to be affective solders, King Asgore directed them to be the Royal guards under Papyrus's and Alphys's command. They patrol around the underground and search out for anything suspicious or just act rather creepy and disturbing at times.
