The Glorious 25th May
"I think perhaps the guards are still trying to free the Patrician," said the High Priest. "Apparently even his secret passages locked themselves."
"All of them? I thought the sly devil had 'em everywhere."
"All locked," said the High Priest. "All of them."
"Almost all of them," said a voice behind him.
Ridcully's tones did not change as he turned around, except that a slight extra syrup was added.
[...]
"Ah, Lord Vetinari," he said, "I am so glad to see you are unhurt."
"I will see you gentlemen in the Oblong Office," said the Patrician. Behind him, a panel in the wall slid back noiselessly.
"I, um, I believe that there are a number of guards upstairs trying to free--" the Chief Priest began.
The Patrician waved a thin hand at him. "I wouldn't dream of stopping them," he said. "It gives them something to do and makes them feel important. Otherwise they just have to stand around all day looking fierce and controlling their bladders. Come this way."

Da Aliens Attack
The year is 20XX, on a small backwater moonbase, there are two guards on the same shift protecting a municipal backup generator, and spend most of their time being bored out of their minds.
They are both supposed to be on shift, and then da aliens attack!
Da aliens are dingbats and there's like four of them, wearing no significant armor, their stupid plasma bolts are slow as shit, and they have a limited understanding of sightlines, cover, or any other infantry tactics. Each could easily be killed by a single burst from the standard issue GX-35 assault carbines the guards carry, and would just sort of stand there while one was fired at them. Even just one lone human soldier stands a decent chance at repelling this attack.
When da aliens attack, Guard 1 is still on his lunch break even though he is supposed to have 30 minutes for lunch and it's been 55 minutes.
When da aliens attack, Guard 2 is standing watch at the front door with his fully loaded GX-35 assault carbine, but throws it down and flees as soon as he sees da aliens.
Da aliens get in and asemoclicate the backup generator's power supply.
Who bears the most responsibility?

Northfield Experience. Part 3
Locked up innocent in Northfield, Zac and Stefan were constantly explaining that they were just two students doing research for a university project. The guards, constant in their shiny PVC uniforms, remained cold, unresponsive. They had heard it all before. Not one Northfield inmate ever seemed to think he deserved to be there. According to Northfield rules, the highly-trained young guards looked after the good-looking young students day and night, feeding them, cleaning them, caring for them, but also making sure the boys were always bound up inescapably in straitjackets, securely locked up in padded cells and ensuring they were neither a danger to themselves nor the rest of the world.
Stefan curbed his instinct to resist the guards, letting them tighten his straitjacket.
He went along with their daily routine
Zac fought back the humiliation. The trained guards were just doing their jobs, and he had to eat!
Apart from the hygiene checks the straitjackets were never removed.
The guards constantly checked the straps, checked the buckles, eliminated any hope of escape
Out in the rain, their PVC restraints were tight and secure.
And after the rain, they dried their young prisoners off
They swilled piss and sweat out of the cells
.... and sanitised the padding
Under their efficient supervision, no prisoner had a hope of escape
Zac and Stefan seldom had the chance to communicate, but they had decided that compliance was the best tactic. Maybe if they went along with everything expected of them, they would eventually be listened to? Maybe then they could go back to their cabin in the woods, swap their straitjackets for their awesome PVC hoodies and sleep on a soft mattress rather than a filthy padded floor.
But Northfield wasn't finished with the two boys.
To be continued.....
STUDIO TRIGGER HAS UPHELD THEIR OBLIGATION.
