Outside of Undyne’s house, there is a training dummy.
While it is never referred to as Mad Dummy, it speaks in the same manner as Mad Dummy, occasionally repeating the same word with increasing emphasis.
More importantly, this training dummy acknowledges how Mad Dummy acted toward Frisk.
In the genocide route, Mad Dummy fuses with their vessel and becomes Glad Dummy. If Glad Dummy is spared, the training dummy at Undyne’s house apologizes.
This refers to the fact that Glad Dummy was able to become corporeal after experiencing “that moment of unbridled emotion.” This cements the idea that Mad/Glad Dummy is the training dummy in Undyne’s yard.
In the latest update to the game (found only in the Nintendo Switch version), Frisk encounters Mad Mew Mew, who is desperately trying to fuse with her body. While Mad Mew Mew never says she was Mad Dummy, she implies that she has encountered Frisk before.
Similar to Mad Dummy, she also has a habit of repeating words with increasing emphasis.
During the fight, Mad Mew Mew reveals that she is Undyne’s Training Dummy, confirming that Mad Mew Mew and Mad Dummy are the same ghost.
After Mad Mew Mew’s fight, she floats off, presumably to work on fusing her body. The training dummy in Undyne’s yard is even gone, likely because that vessel has been discarded.
That’s not the last time she is seen. Mad Mew Mew returns to her spot after the battle with Asriel in the pacifist route.
After reaching New Home, the locked doors inside the Dog Shrine can finally be opened. By pushing apart the two analog sticks, the doors open to reveal a room with a Mew Mew Kissy Cutie doll inside. Interacting with the doll starts a brand new encounter, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
Here is a collection of imgur albums of dialogue used in Mad Mew Mew’s encounter!
It’s that time of the year again when the secret monster So Sorry can be encountered in Undertale. So Sorry holds an Art Club in Hotland on October 10 at 8PM. (Though he can be encountered at 8AM as well.)
However, on the Nintendo Switch version, players can meet So Sorry at any time of the date.
As mentioned by Toby Fox on Twitter, this change is just on the Nintendo Switch version.
If you’re not sure how to find the Art Club room, check out our post: how to encounter so sorry.
In New Home, the monsters tell Frisk what they know of Asriel and Chara's fate, but they only know a fragment of the story. The full story of what happened to Asriel and Chara must be pieced together from clues scattered through multiple playthroughs. Here is a chronological explanation of what happened to Asriel and Chara, from their meeting, to their deaths, to their "reincarnations." It all starts with Chara's fall.
Note: This is a remake of the original “the sad tale of chara and asriel” post.
★ chara’s fall into the underground in 201X
A long time ago, Chara climbed Mt. Ebott for an unhappy reason related to hating humanity. However, Chara tripped, causing them to fall into the underground. Asriel found them injured, so he took Chara back to the castle. This happened on a date at the end of 201X.

★ chara lived with the dreemurrs
Chara lived with the Dreemurrs in New Home and became best friends with Asriel. The two enjoyed playing together, whether it be doing creepy faces or playing tricks.
Inspired by the pie incident in which Asgore fell ill due to buttercups, Chara came up with a plan to die by eating buttercups (”the flowers”), perhaps to create the illusion of a natural death. Asriel was opposed to the idea, but Chara convinced Asriel. Together, the two would free everyone.

★ one day, chara became ill
Chara fell ill “one day” due to the intentional buttercup poisoning. On their deathbed, they requested to see the flowers from their village (which are not buttercups). Only Asriel knew that it was part of Chara’s plan to become ill in order for the two to leave the underground together and collect six (souls). The request to see Chara’s favorite flowers would serve as a reason to take Chara’s body out of the underground.

★ the next day, chara died
The next day, Chara died in their own bed.

★ asriel absorbed chara’s soul, and chara had control
Asriel absorbed Chara’s soul as part of the plan, becoming a being with incredible power. However, it was actually Chara who picked up their own body and carried it out of the underground.

★ the villagers thought asriel killed chara
Chara’s body was carried onto the golden flowerbed. However, the humans saw Asriel (a horrible beast with unfathomable power) holding Chara’s body. Believing that this monster killed a child, the humans attacked Asriel. Chara wanted to attack the humans with their full power, but Asriel refused to fight back. Asriel had agreed to get six souls, but he had not agreed to kill everyone. Because Asriel resisted, their plan failed.
Asriel took Chara’s body with him back home. Upon reaching the castle garden, he died and turned into dust. Sticky seeds also ended up in the garden, more than likely having stuck to Asriel after he reached the village’s flowerbed. Asriel and Chara’s combined soul is never mentioned.

★ chara’s grave
Chara’s body was placed in a coffin in the castle’s basement. When Asgore declared war on humans, Toriel left him and took Chara’s body with her. She buried Chara’s body in the Ruins, where Asriel had found them. Chara’s favorite flowers grow above their unmarked grave, either because the seeds also stuck to Chara’s body or because Toriel planted them there.

★ the first golden flower
Many years later after the other humans fell down, Asgore asked Alphys to create a power that would free the monsters. She needed a vessel to hold the monster souls she planned to extract from the fallen monsters. She chose the first golden flower from Asgore’s garden, which grew from the sticky seeds that came from the outside world. Alphys injected determination into this flower in an attempt to give it the will to live. The experiment appeared to have failed.

★ asriel’s resurrection as flowey
Alphys’ experiment had not failed. The flower came to life, but it was Asriel. After his dust spread across the garden, Asriel’s essence lived on in the first golden flower. However, he only woke up after Alphys returned the flower to Asgore’s garden.
Unlike Asriel, Chara remains dead until the start of the game. “Your” power awakened Chara from death, and they become a part of Frisk. Frisk’s determination, their red soul, Chara’s name being called by Flowey, and the player naming Chara likely contributed to Chara’s revival. Chara begins speaking through Frisk ("It's me, Chara.") only after all the monsters in the Ruins are eliminated.

tl;dr
Chara fell into the underground where they met the monster prince, Asriel. The two soon became best friends. After a buttercup poisoning incident, Chara came up with a plan, which required Asriel to help them acquire human souls. Asriel reluctantly agreed, and when Chara died, he absorbed their soul.
Using Chara's last wish as a motive, Asriel (controlled by Chara) brought Chara's body to the surface. When attacked by the villagers, Asriel refused to fight, which ended in his death. Asriel's dust spread across the castle garden and presumably onto a golden flower seed he'd unwittingly brought back with him from the surface. This seed grew into the first golden flower, which would later reawaken as Flowey thanks to Alphys' experiments.
Meanwhile, Chara never reawakens until Frisk, a vessel filled with determination, falls on their grave. Perhaps this along with Flowey calling for Chara (and maybe even the player naming them) is what gets them to wake up.
The game is designed to use the entered name in every instance that mentions the first fallen human. In other words, the name “Chara” will never be seen in the game unless you enter the name itself.
Entering the name “Chara” is the only way to know that it’s the fallen child’s “true name.”
Excerpt from scr_namingscreen_check.js
The game first changes the entered name to all lowercase, then it checks if name equals “chara” in English or “きゃら” in Japanese. If this is true, the message presented is “The true name.”
The only other uses of “Chara” as a string in the game’s code is scr_gamestart.js and obj_endflowey_regret.js.
Excerpt from scr_gamestart.js
Excerpt from obj_endflowey_regret.js
If the player erases the entered name from the game’s save files, the game will force the player to enter a new name and start the game from the Ruins flowerbed. However, there is one exceptional situation -- Flowey’s speech after completing the pacifist route and turning the game on again. The obj_endflowey_regret.js is the script that holds Flowey’s speech in which he pleads the player (or Chara) to not reset.
If the name is missing from the save files, the game will use the default name “CHARA”. This ensures that even if the name is somehow missing, the fallen child’s true name will be used.
The child protagonist of Undertale is widely known for flirting with many monsters. But just how many monsters does Frisk actually flirt with? There are a few, but maybe not as much as their reputation leads people to believe.
Flirt by Phone
The first monster Frisk can flirt with is Toriel, though the option is not available in her battle. After acquiring the cellphone from Toriel, Frisk can use it to flirt with the boss monster.
Flirt in Battle
It may come as a surprise to some, but Frisk has the option to flirt with only four monsters in battle. Given that there are fifty-four monsters Frisk can battle in the game (not including alternate forms like Mettaton Ex or Undyne the Undying), that’s actually not many.
Moldsmal
Napstablook
Papyrus
If Frisk flirts with Papyrus, Papyrus assumes that he is obligated to take Frisk out on a date. Frisk is able to accept this date offer.
Tsunderplane
Flirt in Hangout
While not an explicit ACT, Frisk is able to flirt with Undyne during their hangout. After Undyne instructs Frisk to “point to what you want,” Frisk can point to Undyne for the following reaction.
Flirt during Roleplay
In the pacifist route, Frisk delivers a letter to Alphys from Undyne. However, Alphys mistakenly assumes the letter is from Frisk. Frisk plays along with this assumption and goes on a date with Alphys. Once it is revealed that Alphys actually likes Undyne, Frisk is able to help Alphys out with roleplay. Whether Frisk roleplays as Alphys or Undyne, they have the option to flirt.
Roleplaying as Undyne
Roleplaying as Alphys
Conclusion
Frisk can flirt with seven of the fifty-four monsters they can battle. To put it another way, they have a 13% potential flirt rate. There is no denying that Frisk’s flirts are memorable, but perhaps Frisk isn’t quite flirty as some may believe.
As of version 1.05, Papyrus has an alternate pre-battle dialogue. If Papyrus has been spared before, he says the following dialogue the next time Frisk faces him in the neutral route.
This text is not exactly new. It existed in the original v1.0 of the game as unused text, but this was due to a coding issue.
Code excerpt from obj_papyrus8 (v1.0)
The code checked whether or not Papyrus has been previously spared. However, the dialogue would then be replaced with the original dialogue because global.msg[2] to global.msg[13] would be reassigned new strings. The lines “FEELINGS LIKE...” to “OF THE ROYAL GUARD!” have been moved into an else statement, which fixes the issue.
The old tree (referred to as “nastytree” in the code) is actually made up of two parts: obj_nastytree and obj_nastytree_bottom. Each object has its own sprite and code that determines flavor text.
However, only the flavor text for obj_nastytree_bottom can be seen. This is presumably because the player can only interact with the bottom. It’s possible the flavor text for obj_nastytree was added first, but then Toby realized that the player cannot interact with obj_nastytree without making the object solid. If it was solid, then the player would collide with the top of the tree and be unable to stand behind it. This is why the tree is made up of two objects.
Code from obj_nastytree (v1.08)
Code for obj_nastytree_bottom (v1.08)
Map of English text (v1.08)
What is interesting is the unseen flavor text for the obj_nastytree. “It’s a neat-looking tree” was meant to be seen in room 117, implying this tree was going to be used in another room. In the game, room 117 is Undyne’s yard. Whether room 117 was always intended Undyne’s yard is unknown.
Furthermore, “(It’s natural for a tree to lose its leaves.)” was supposed to be seen only if flag 7 is 1. This flag is set to 1 after defeating Asriel, meaning this flavor text was intended as a pacifist-route exclusive text.
In the end, only the flavor text for obj_nastytree_bottom can be seen in the game. While we may not see the two alternate texts, it’s interesting to note that their intended purposes had nothing to do with the genocide route.
