– Well, you’ve successfully hiked your way all the way to your living quarters. Of course you were assigned the one all the way at the very end of the complex. So much for your days of endless marching and prancing across hell’s half acre having come to an end. You make it half way down the stairs into your ward proper before letting out a long, gutteral groan as you drape yourself over a railing.
When did you get so *old*? Why do you have back pain? Where does it even come from? You give up. Food isn’t worth this amount of effort. Nothing is worth making it down the rest of these god forsaken stairs.
“...” you look up, notice there’s someone staring at you. A local maybe? Well, you certainly can’t blame them. You haven’t exactly been subtle in your torment.
“No, no. It’s fine. You can leave me here to die. I’m sure you have very important things of your own to attend to.”
