Annoyance sparked up in her in an instance as she glared up at him at that. If there was one thing Laxus knew, it was how to push her buttons. Puffing her cheeks a tad bit as she crossed her arms over her chest. She hadn’t been the biggest fan of the nickname especially when it came from Laxus who was also a blonde.
“Stop calling me that, Sparky! Maybe, I don’t know, the way you’re eyes have been lingering over me like I’m some dessert... you might as well be lickin’ your lips!”
Huffing as she spoke, it only ticked her off more that he smirked at her. The small little dance her stomach did at his smirk made it worse. She wouldn’t be able to tell someone if that pissed her off more or if he did. If this were a sport, he’d be winning. All she did was try to be nice to him or at least most of the time. Maybe that was a bit generous to herself but all the same!
At his next comment, in her frustration she went to open her mouth to sass him. Her brain processed the tone of voice though and immediately her face turned a bright red. Mouth shutting as she pursed her lips and debated what to even say in that moment. She knew if she spoke, she’d stammer and that smirk of his would only grow. It’d be a lie to say that she didn’t admire, her eyes lingering even when she tried to will herself not to. Everyone knew Laxus as the most eligible bachelor and for a good reason; he was hot and kind of a bad boy while still being on the side of good.
One would think that their past would make her smarter, but how could she not also fall victim to being attracted to the Laxus Dreyar?
If she had any doubt that he was aware about it, the look on his face spelled it out for her. Watching him get up and close the space between them made her back up from him. Trying to keep the safe distance behind her as her gears were turning trying to think of absolutely anything. Clearly she was struggling and suddenly her back was against the wall. The cool feeling of the wall however was not the thing sending shivers up her spine.
“L.. Laxus.. you ca..” she stammered.
Her words were cut off as he lifted her chin. Brown eyes wide like a deer trapped in headlights as she looked up at him. Her heart was hammering as she found herself placed into this position. If she had any sense, she’d be looking around for anyone. Truth be told; most of the looks would be female jealousy however. All she could do was watch as he leaned his face closer towards her. She could feel his breath on them and the smell of what faintly smelt like something wintergreen. He continued to lean past her face and to her ear where he felt his breath against her ear.
That same breath caused a strangled noise that stopped somewhere from within her throat. Another same noise cam at she felt the heat from her cheeks creep down her neck and to her chest. Trying to get ahold of herself as he moved away and with instinct she went up and grabbed at the front of his shirt. Her manicured pink nails gripping onto the cloth as she now avoided eye contact. Looking at her own hands as they grip as her mind whirled. She was desperately trying to think of anything to say. She wasn’t being very smooth right now.
“L.. Laxus..” she got out in a small voice. “You go around.. saying that to every girl..?”
Why was she choosing to say THAT of all things right now?!
