Given that McCoy starts hunting for Jim the very second he has the wherewithal to do so, it takes a frankly obnoxious amount of time - almost two full days, as a matter of fact - to track the man down. Little surprise there, but it's still damn irritating and despite his best efforts it's frankly a matter of luck that he bumps into him at all. Almost literally, for the record, as McCoy emerges from one of the city's so-called medical centers ( he'll be the judge of that, but not today ) at nearly the same moment Jim exits from what looks like some centuries-old shopping complex. Go figure.
"Where the devil have you been?" Normally it's nothing short of a relief to see Jim in a place like this, but McCoy already crossed that bridge a couple days ago and has since been effectively sitting on his hands and waiting to hear whatever the captain's plan is to get them out of here and back to the ship. That and worrying that he somehow got himself killed, but then that's a fairly standard concern of McCoy's. Still, he clasps a hand on Jim's arm both to keep him in place and assure himself that they're both really here. "I've been looking all over for you! Jim, just what the hell is going on here?"
