Hey now, that's just about the worst musical accompaniment that you could think to play while watching Pan's Labyrinth. (It's not even bad music, it's just incomprehensible music.)

Hey now, that's just about the worst musical accompaniment that you could think to play while watching Pan's Labyrinth. (It's not even bad music, it's just incomprehensible music.)
It's time to become whatever it is I am going to become. I am beginning to believe that the best way to become someone else is to become someplace else. At least, it is if the place one ends up is an improvement.
Starting from zero tomorrow, I'll be going through Beeminder's "Introduction to Beeminding" course. It's a $400 fee that doesn't sound like much until you think about the time and money spent on prep courses and SAT prep and standardized testing and tutoring and coursework and everything else required to get into Harvard, MIT, Cal Tech, or one of those top-tier state schools with a coveted top-25 admissions score. The money saved on prep courses will be used to pay down some of that big bill from last semester's tuition increase.
I don't want to become a mathematician. I'm already a mathematician (in the non-STEM sense of the word), and I already get my math from somewhere. Beeminder's intro course is a bit light on math, but it's pretty general. Beeminder wants you to become a "public intellectual," and the introductory chapter will tell you what that is (although it is unclear if they mean a) a non-STEM version of the original term, or b) the sort of guy who talks about philosophy in the Common App.
That's about all I've got. If you have other questions, I'll try to answer them tomorrow.
