Astonishing view - Winter 2021 by Massimo Brogioni 🙏
SentierElsa: le meraviglie della Toscana... a soli 40 km da Firenze, un posto magico.
View of Porta Nova, or Porta Salis or again, Volterrana (because it represented the gateway to those coming from Volterra, where salt was bought) is one of the gates that allow access to the medieval town of the city.
It was built in stone to replace the Selva gate, destroyed during the siege of the city in 1479. Flanked by two powerful ramparts and with a moat in the front (only recently brought to light). It represents a superb example of Renaissance military architecture. The original project is attributed to Giuliano da Sangallo.
One of the most evocative streets of Colle di Val d'Elsa is Via delle Volte; a covered road over 100 meters long, is located in the 'castle' within the historic center.
Colle di Val d'Elsa's pedestrian cycle path rises on the route of the historic railway (1885) that connected Colle to Poggibonsi. Thanks to @sberni for this wonderful view of the Tuscan countryside
Great view of the historic centre of Colle
Spring has come to Colle, enjoy our little and peaceful town.
