Silene Capensis (Xhosa) - "An Oneirogen Experiment", post 1
I have just received my order of 14 grams of these african plant roots. A bit of background for those unfamiliar;
"Also know as Silene Undulata, this plant is regarded by the Xhosa people as a sacred plant. Its root is traditionally used to induce vivid (and according to the Xhosa, prophetic) lucid dreams during the initiation process of shamans, classifying it a naturally occurring oneirogen similar to the more well-known dream herb Calea Zacatechichi" (Wiki)
I am attempting a short experiment of roughly a weeks usage of this plant in order to increase my dream clarity and recall especially.
Yesterday I prepared roughly .75 g in the traditional method of crushing the root to powder, which is then added to water and mixed until a foam builds on top of the mixture. I was unable to completely powder the root this time, but will attempt a more thorough method next time as I was only able to generate a small amount of foam, which I consumed.
This previous night had only two notable moments. One being that at the precipice of falling asleep my vision filled with a flash of incredibly bright white light which woke me momentarily. (The color white is heavily associated with the plant in a traditional sense) The second being that I can recall disticntly that my name was yelled loudly within my dream.
However this could all be psychological as the effects of the plant do not typically set in until the third night.
