confusion settles around you, but that confusion quickly morphs into anger as you look at your mom, the exasperation in her tone both frustrating and saddening to hear -- she didn’t deserve this game of cat and mouse she’d been trapped in for too long. she deserved the world, freedom from the man who’d brought so much pain and anguish into her life, into the whole family’s life ---- and here he was stringing them along, keeping them just out of reach, but close enough to sneer back at them and watch them crumble as the rug was ripped out from underneath them ( A PREDATOR ).
