My WIP: round four for novel four (I still have 8 more to go - though 7 to 9 are not as fleshed out yet, gotta finish 1 to 6 first)
If someone would have told Sparks that he’d end up back in Russia and in charge of his family, he would have suggested they’re insane. Except, that’s exactly what happened. It’s a really good thing his ex and her brother doesn’t mind him asking for help, because he definitely needs it!
Iov always knew that he’d spend the rest of his life working off the mistake he made. He just never expected it to be by working to help rebuild a crime family into something new, something different. It’s hard to help plan for so many children and young adults when he’s not actually allowed near them.
Influences: like my others, there are a lot of them!
1. @no-ordinary-southern-girl is partly to blame for the huge story plot that occurred with Sparks and Iov. I asked her for some character image ideas (cause sometimes I get personality but not a clear understanding of character until I see them) and she sent me three lovely ladies who would become the bases for Emere, Sitara and Nazreen. Which then spiraled because my muse went “oh look, pretty! I know each of them and their stories and how they relate to the boys!” and poof! Nazreen isn’t introduced book wise until number six, but she was born here at the beginning of book four in my ideas.
2. @leavesdancing is definitely a big part of it as zhe discusses all the things that poor Iov has gone through with me. We’ll be talking one point, and another thing in his life says “by the way, this happened”, that poor boy didn’t stand a chance before meeting Pavel of having a normal or happy life. That’s before we get to Sparks and the crap his life put him through, though he took it a different reaction route. Hell, I’m pretty sure my ladies have the best lives of my mains in this set. The muse keeps terrorizing the boys and feeding on the conversations.
3. Forgotten by Linkin Park - I’m never sure if this is Sparks or Iov, cause it works for both the main boys in different ways. Both of them are part of the dark world of mobs, both had their memories and reactions define them. Sparks ran away, Iov tried to make his father proud and in doing so completely destroyed the life he knew.
4. Papercut by Linkin Park - Iov, my poor anxiety child, I am sure this song is one of his theme songs. Someone find him a shock blanket.
5. Somewhere I Belong by Linkin Park - I actually debated about whether this song would be story four or five, and truthfully it’s both. For story four it is Sparks, trying to figure out his placing after his entire life has gone topsy-turvy
6. Human by Christina Perri - while I realize this is supposed to be a love song, or a intimate relationship song, I mostly relate it to Iov and his family. The fact that his father would only offer praise when he did things perfectly, building up his expectations and hopes, only for them to be smashed when he couldn’t actually reach the goal set.
7. The World I Know by Collective Soul - this is more for the beginning of the story, and definitely more Sparks than Iov focused, however the message behind it still works for the both of them. Sparks because he is overwhelmed by suddenly having 33 kids in his custody and being head of a crime family, the very thing he ran away from, and even though he makes it go clean, it’s hard work and drives him to drinking more than he cares to admit, with the side effects that often come with that. Iov because his first meeting with Sparks left him shaken to the core.
