Mastodon by Mahr’s Brau

Here’s another heavy metal beer for you. Mastodon collaborated with the German brewery Mahr’s Brau to create this unfiltered lager. It definitely has that German malt flavor profile. The beer pours a hazy dark yellow and has a bit of a chewy mouthfeel. There’s a little yeast and hops in the taste as well. Overall, it’s a decent beer but nothing super special.

There Does Not Exist KELR Unfiltered Cellar Lager (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 4 of 4. This is really pretty incredible -- quite soft on the palate and there's a nice honey and grain profile in the nose with a bit of grassy and forest hop notes lightly in the nose. Really great.

Beer 203: Mahr's Braeu Mastodon

This unfiltered lager has character, and I like that in a lager. The first moment of the beer seems sour but is quickly washed away by some crisp malts. The tail end of the beer brings a woody peat flavoring that is strong and demanding, especially for a lager.
