Not completed, but it's time to be finished.

300 hours or so, mostly of hand sewing each sequin individually and each pleat down.

I've never had such a love/hate relationship with something I've made before. I'm both proud that I've made it and disappointed that it's not what I wanted to make.

C'est la vie.

Oh, I have severely underestimated how long it's going to take to fucking sequin this thing.

I thought that each petal would take me 2 hours, maybe 2 and a half, but the big ones are nearly 4 hours. And that's with minimal sequins - ideally, I would probably need double that to make them look really lush.

And there's five big petals. *sigh*

At this stage, I'm thinking of leaving off one petal - the one at center back that will be attached to the lacing panel - and just finishing it in my own time once I've handed the garment up.

At this stage, I'm walking a fine line between couture and tacky.

Tambour embroidery and sequining. Tambour frustrates me. I feel like it should be something that flows and makes sense and is quick, and it's just... Not. I'm so much faster with my normal technique. It could be the tambour needles I'm using. It could be my technique. It could be my thread. It could be that my frustration is making things harder. In any case, I think I'll just keep this in my list of "things that can be improved... If I get the time."
