this messed up vintage cat sewing pattern has tormented me since i saw it & like some other folks have done in that post - i tried my hand at tweaking the pattern to resemble the illustration (and my personal tastes) a little more. i've ended up with this, which i have only tested at a small scale and not this final version exactly (where i have done such things as further widening the cheeks and finalizing the leg shapes.) i bestow it upon you nice folks now 👐
go forth and make weird little beanbag kittens! pls show me if you do!
woah this got big!! and after another try i have another untested tweak for yall. this should help the weird pinchy side seams out. yey
My first attempt! I made the pattern a bit smaller as I wanted it to be able to fit in a pocket, but then (accidentally but perhaps unavoidably) sewed it with a wider seam allowance than the resized pattern indicated, so the face is proportionally a bit too big and I lost some detail in the ear shape. I'm pleased with it though! It was fun to make something and to do some handsewing.
SOO CUTE AND TINIE 😭
I tried this pattern a while back to try out some minky and I get no points for making the pattern well but looook at my boyyy
His name is Tofu. Thank you for sharing the pattern I will love him forever
They DID that!!!
It took me about 15 seconds in to realize what was happening in this vid, but the second I did, I legit came. This is… I got chills and got so much validation for my theories about tap and pretty much any genre of music here…
Tap is probably one of the dance styles that gets the least amount of credit four how badass it is
Holy hell-
Sorry I don’t get it?
They’re tap dancing, a kind of dancing typically associated with being old-fashioned and kind of silly. Personally, even tap dancing to old music is awesome in my eyes, but this is on a totally new and exciting level
The thing about tap is that it’s so often seen as a fancy, old-fashioned dainty dance that only posh (and generally white) people do in tuxedos but it didn’t used to be the case.
Way back in the early days, it was where black performers in Vaudeville were legendary for it in Jazz and Jive routines. At about 1:37, this is where the Nicholas brothers go off.
It’s such an expressive and joyful kind of dance and matches so well with hip hop beats and rhythm, which is why the modern reworking of it is so awesome.
Im sure a lot of people also watch the op video and they assume that “clap” sound is part of the music just because a LOT of modern music samples that sound and in some music it is just the sound of hands clapping, but no that is a sound being made by all their shoes at once.
one of my favorite syncopated ladies routines
Has the world forgotten Gregory Hines?
An Ode to Stars🌟 With the launch of my Star Projector Kickstarter, I took a look back on all the stars that I have painted over the years. There's just something so magical about their unique shape and glow that brings joy to my inner child. My actual childhood was quite traumatic so now I'm making up for all the lost time. Every painted star heals me just a little bit.
The long awaited Star Projector and Star Lanterns Kickstarter is finally live! Get your stars here Kickstarter.com/projects/yuumei/star-projector-and-lanterns
I've been working on this project for so long I can't believe it's finally ready! I'm so excited and nervous haha ⭐🌟✨Thank you all for being so patient and supportive! 💖
I totally backed this. I need more whimsy in my life, dammit
(Photos taken by the lovely Megan Shickhard at Megan's Marvelous Photography!) I haven't made a lot in the last year or so because I've been super hyper-focused on one project: making myself a replica of Miss Piggy. No joke, I started working on her in July of last year and only just finished her in late April of this year... granted, that's with me taking a lot of breaks working on her, because my typical work process involves a lot of "Sit and stare at an unfinished project because you don't know how to proceed and are afraid of screwing things up" time. After that long of working on Piggy I was naturally burnt out, and that definitely affected my perception of her. For a long time I didn't think she was turning out, and then suddenly when I attached the wig to her, one of the very last steps in her completion... all the sudden something clicked in my brain. And now I'm super proud of what I was able to accomplish with her... sure there's a few things I want to adjust (I definitely did not get her eye shape right, way too spherical)... but for someone who doesn't usually make puppets I think I did a pretty dang good job! I managed to impress Adam Savage with my Piggy when I took her to see him at my local con, and I'm still riding that high three weeks later.
WIP photos and construction notes are up on my blog for anyone interested in reading it (There's way too much info to try and summarize for Tumblr).
My latest Labyrinth prop replica, the first 13 hour clock you see in the film! This is the clock that Jareth magics up to emphasize to Sarah that she has "13 hours in which to solve the Labyrinth...".
This clock is only on screen for a few scant moments, but that's all it took for me to become captivated by it. Largely because we never get a good look at the clock, the question of what it might've looked like in detail became a mystery I hoped to solve. Luckily for me, I was able to find a reference photo of the same model of antique clock, and used that to make my own version.
My clock is made out of laser cut/engraved pieces of plywood, stacked together to form the base of the clock before being stained and varnished. The design of the clock face was made by cutting black and white vinyl on my Cricut. The little shield emblems (No idea what these are called on the actual clock) were poster board cut and stacked together, sealed in varnish, molded in silicone, then cast in resin 13 times. All of the faux brass was the typical spray paint/acrylic aging/gilder's wax combo. And finished with a clock mechanism, to turn it into a real working clock.
I made a little miniature scene with fake branches/twigs I got from the craft store, photographed in front of a big screen. I photographed the clock separately, then edited everything together in Photoshop.
For fun, here's a "Before" and "After" the photo editing. I had to colour the correct the lighting a ton because originally some of these shots were less "Sunrise in the Labyrinth" and more "Mustard and Ketchup". I took a separate photo of the sky that I used a colour gradient on to give it more of a sunrise vibe, and combined that with a shot of Jareth's castle/the Labyrinth to use as the background.
Very excited to finally share some pictures of my Dread Pirate Frogerts build! I've been thinking about making this outfit for my Kermit for a while now, but the proper motivation to actually get this done was hearing that Cary Elwes was announced as a guest for my local comic convention! So with any luck Dread Pirate Frogerts will be getting to meet the real Westley very soon.
A shocking amount of work went into making this little outfit... I completely underestimated the amount of time I would need to put all this together. Though a good chunk of that was me getting way too wrapped up in perfectionism... ask me how many times I re-did the smocking on the sleeves (On second thought, don't, it's embarrassing). Here I thought I had been con-crunching with Piggy last year... technically, I only just finished Kermit today, and the convention starts Thursday. Lots of internal (and external) screaming was had with this build. I did film the majority of it, with plans to turn it into a full video and reel in the future... maybe once I've had a chance to recoup from aforementioned con-crunch.
My love for this knows no bounds
Do you want one of your own little dragons like these? Well I finally made a pattern for them! It's not the prettiest or most well-written pattern in the world but it will get the job done. Find it here!
This pattern is totally free but if you would like to send a few dollars my way, it would mean a lot if you supported my local zine project!! Ko-fi here.
If you are not able to make your own dragon and still want one, I will also accept commissions for these in a wide range of colors and add-ons. Just send me a message! :3

This is so good, I'm awake at 3am and glad of it - for this has arrived on my dash like a boss
the "tried to make him the main character" part killed me bc, indeed, caesar is not the main character of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar
@suzeranity - OMG 😂😂
“They all did slay”
This is SO DAMN DAMN GOOD. I think Shakespeare would have approved.
