Possible Future Suits for Insomniac’s Spider-Man.

3/4 Miles Morales

Given his importance to the first game, it’s likely that Insomniac is setting Miles up to be a major character in the sequel. Whether he’ll be the main character, and alternate that can be switched to, or it’s only in the DLC, it’s likely that he’ll be playable character at some point. It’s fitting therefore that there be a couple of alternate skins for him to use. Unfortunately at less than ten years old, the character is short lived in comparison to Parker, but there are still a few options available.

1. First Appearance Suit

When Miles first appeared in Ultimate Fallout #4, he was wearing a costume he’d bought in a store. It was based on Ultimate Peter Parker’s suit, but it was a poor replica. Ill-fitting, and not connecting properly, one notable difference is the addition of padding on the knees and elbows, probably intended to protect the children who would normally be expected to wear it. Bonus points if NPCs who see Miles wearing it claim that it’s “in bad taste.”

2. Ultimate Spider-Man

Gifted to Miles by Nick Fury, this suit is the one most people think of when discussing the character. Setting Miles apart from his predecessor, this suit has a much more modern design that has a bit of variation depending on the artist, but remains essentially uniform.

3. Child’s Costume

For the Into The Spider-Verse movie Miles’ first suit, much like in his first appearance, was a children’s costume that he bought in a store (no refunds). The suit fits even more poorly than the number one entry, being nowhere near long enough to fit his arms and legs, and tying in the back with string. It also doesn’t include gloves or boots, leading Miles to wear it with sneakers.

4. Spray Painted Suit

Unlike his mainstream counterpart, ISV Miles didn’t have Nick Fury to give him a suit, so he had to settle for modifying one of Peter Parker’s (presumably early) suits with spray paint. This gives it a much rougher, but ultimately more personalized feel.

5. Leap of Faith Suit

Essentially the same as the the previous entry, but with the addition of his civilian clothes over the suit. I’d want this one in the game, just so we can recreate the iconic leap of faith scene.

6. Symbiote Possessed Suit

Of course, Miles had his own run in with a Symbiote, during the Absolute Carnage event. It went through a few forms, as Miles battled for control, so there would be a couple of options available here.

7. Captain Universe (Spider-Geddon)

Peter isn’t the only Spider-Man to be host to the Uni-Power. During the Spider-Geddon event, Miles managed to convince the all powerful entity to lend him its power for the fight against the Inheritors.

8. Prowler (Comics)

With Miles being so comparatively new, his costume gallery is somewhat limited, but we do have his uncle Aaron Davis to look to for inspiration. Back on 1610, he operated under the name Prowler. He also wasn’t as nice a guy as his ISV counterpart, and came to a sticky end.

9. Iron Spider (Aaron Davis)

After being resurrected and transferred to 616, Aaron Davis picked up right where he left off, except that the Prowler identity was taken by someone else. Thus, Aaron picked up a knock off Iron Spider Suit and then tried to steal a helicarrier. Can’t say he doesn’t have ambition.

10. Prowler (ISV)

The Prowler suit worn by Aaron Davis’ ISV counterpart. This version of Prowler was more of an enforcer than a cat burglar, and as such it was built more for battle than stealth. The cape would likely have to be omitted from a game version.

Marvel Comics: Which would be more powerful, someone hosting the Phoenix Force or the Enigma Force?

Who would be more powerful between two people, one of which is possessed by Uni-power and the last one by phoenix force?

It depends on who's hosting...

From outside the Marvel Universe, looking in, the Phoenix Force (comics) and the Unipower/Captain Universe (Enigma Force) are relatively equivalent because they are both signature cosmic forces.

They are also both cosmic forces limited by the capacities and mortality of their hosting entities.

We first become aware of the Unipower from the Micronauts comic series and their parallel dimension of the Microverse. Except, in the Marvel Universe, the Microverse is not a separate universe, just a strangely distant part of this one...

Microverses are dimensions formerly defined as any universe only accessible through vibrational attunement (usually shrinking). The belief that these worlds exist "within" atoms may have given rise to the stock phrase "There are worlds within worlds". It is not actually the microverses that are microscopic in size but rather the nexuses which make them accessible. It is thus theoretically possible to enter the same microverse from different points on Earth. (background for the microverse impaired)

(Yes, young people, you did not invent turning toys into entertainment, it's been around before Bionicle and the Legends of Chima and we did it better back then too. Micronauts were great toys and one Marvel's best books back then.)

Possession is nine-tenths of the law

What makes both of these powers unusual is they rarely manifest on their own. They take vessels to enact their will because they are universal forces whose mission is both rarely defined and unknowable to mortal beings.

The Unipower rarely has a known specific agenda (to the host) which can be followed. It shows up, restores a balance of one sort or another and leaves. It is unique in that it may enter relatively ordinary people for an undisclosed amount of time. Those possessed beings are often identified as Captain Universe.

The one time we see it with a particular and somewhat personal agenda is when the power is destabilized and needs help reordering itself. During this time it will possess a variety of well-known heroes (Spider-Man, Hulk, the Invisible Woman and the Silver Surfer) until it has corrected the problem.

The Phoenix Force has been far more selective (or limited), we aren't sure which. Jean Grey (or some aspect of her, cloned body, parallel universe version, trans-temporal descendant, etc) has been the most likely Human recipient.

We don't know if the Phoenix maintains other avatars elsewhere in the Universe (at the same time). Since the alien race, the Shiar, knew of the Phoenix before she destroyed a star and left a planet to die in a supernova, it is safe to say, it had been seen before Jean Grey became its most recent vessel.

Until recently, it had only been seen in the bodies of Jean Grey, Rachel Summers (and parallel universe versions thereof). We later learn there are many parallel versions of the Phoenix, each charged with maintaining the balance of Life force in their respective universes.

The Phoenix Force recently took hosts that were NOT Jean Grey or Rachel Summers. They were dubbed the Phoenix Five (Earth-616).

When Tony Stark/Iron Man shot the Phoenix with a massive experimental weapon to destroy it, it merely broke the Phoenix in pieces, releasing the energies of the Phoenix Force and empowering the five nearest beings. Those nearest to the Phoenix were Cyclops, Namor, Emma Frost, Colossus and Magik. The five of them absorbed each an equal amount of the Phoenix Force essentially becoming the all-powerful Phoenix Five.

This does not go well and leads to the events of the less than ideal Avengers vs. X-Men (hated it).

Thinking of people as fuses

If you think of the Unipower and the Phoenix Force as electricity and the person wielding the power as both fuse and conduit, the better the person who is hosting the power is at manipulating energy, the more likely they will use either of these powers effectively.

But the power can also be limited by the person using it, if a person is physically too weak, the power may consume them before they can use it or control it. In the case of the Phoenix Five, they were able to use the power but were eventually driven insane by it.

The major differences between the two powers lies in WHO is able to use it and how adaptable the power is to the strength of its vessels.

Using a normal human to host the power: Unipower wins.

The Unipower has been wielded by ordinary humans since it started appearing in the mainstream Marvel Universe.

The Phoenix force rarely inhabits normal humans. While the Phoenix Force may be incredibly powerful, it seems to prefer to have an initial power base from which to work.

Inhabiting more than one host at a time: Phoenix

Granted, the Phoenix Force may have been artificially split by technology but we now know it can inhabit more than one person at a time.

The Unipower is almost never seen inhabiting more than one person at a time.

Using super-powered individuals: Both

Both of these cosmic forces have made vessels of super-beings. The Phoenix is far more discriminating in its taste. To date less than ten human individuals have ever used the Phoenix power.

The Unipower has inhabited at least twenty individuals of varying power levels including superhumans as powerful as the Hulk, Susan Richards and even the Silver Surfer.

So whose more powerful?

The answer totally depends on whose hosting which power and what the goal of the use of said power was.

THE UNIPOWER

The source of the Unipower is the Enigma Force. Not much is truly known about this source other than it is somehow related to Eternity (and likely Infinity), the primal consciousness of the entire universe.

The Unipower is believed to have access to a near-limitless power source and able to bring said power to any host it chooses to inhabit. It does not appear to have a limited type of entity, capable of using even animals as a temporary host.

Its range of capabilities is quite diverse but unfortunately limited by the intelligence and understanding of the being hosting it. We rarely see it in beings whose powers are already off the scale but when it inhabited the Hulk, Silver Surfer or the Juggernaut, these were entities whose natural abilities (the fuse limit in the case of these three would be their already nigh invulnerability) would make their combined abilities with the Unipower nearly unstoppable.

The Silver Surfer would be a near-perfect host because of his already prodigious energy manipulation abilities, he would have an innate attunement and potential understanding of the power.

The underlying power supply for the Enigma Force is unknown but suspected of being Eternity. This makes sense as Eternity doesn't tend to go mucking about within itself to resolve issues. It has agents for that sort of thing and it is suspected the Unipower is such an agent. The Starbrand/Kevin Conner may be another.

If this is the case, the Unipower is backed by the biggest source of power in the Universe, the Universe itself.

THE PHOENIX FORCE

The Phoenix Force is the Third or Fourth (depending on who you ask) most powerful being in the Marvel Universe. It is believed this force saved Galan of Taa (Galactus) from the Big Crush in the universe prior to the current Marvel Universe.

The Phoenix Force does not manifest often in a well-balanced Universe and appears to exist only long enough to resolve problems with life and death balance in any universe. Its primary mission is to provide lifeforce to all living things across the universe. It is integral to the existence of Life in a universe, making it a counter to Death, another primal force.

If she is connected to the gestalt intelligence of the Multiverse aspects of herself, she is effectively as powerful as she believes she can be. Technically, this is her fuse limit, her ability to conceive of and control her powers.

Without the White Crown Phoenix gestalt, Rachel Summers fought Galactus to a standstill (and even he admits she might have defeated him, but at a great cost to the lifeforce balance in the Universe. She would have effectively used up energy previously allocated for life to develop across the universe.)

This means even when the Phoenix is using her powers to ensure life can exist somewhere, she is reducing the overall potential in the universe for life somewhere else. Her power has the ultimate price tag, of Death for Life.

Winner: The Host determines the victor.

In most cases and confrontations, if the White Crown Phoenix (the perfect embodiment of the Phoenix Force) is involved, the other side doesn't have a chance.

If for some reason, the Phoenix Force has gone dark (See: Dark Phoenix) and threatens life in the Universe, the Unipower is likely to be one of the go-to agents Eternity and Infinity will send to resolve the problem in the biggest and baddest host they/you can imagine. Yep, this guy.

Imagine Gladiator of the Imperial Guard with the Unipower...Overkill!

If the Unipower fails and the threat continues unabated, then they will send in the Hostus with the Mostus. Problem solved.

Depends... But I will say... The winner is: Definitely the Phoenix Force. The Phoenix is one of the most feared of entities of the Marvel's Universe.

The Phoenix Force is one of the oldest known cosmic entities, representing life that has not yet been born. The Phoenix Force is an immortal, indestructible, and mutable manifestation of the prime universal force of life. Born of the void between states of being, the Phoenix Force is a child of the universe. It is the nexus of all psionic energy which does, has, and ever will exist in all realities of the Omniverse, the Guardian of Creation, and a de-facto guardian of the M'Kraan Crystal. The Phoenix is among the most feared beings in the entire universe - having the power to cut and regrow any part of the universe, as well as destroy it entirely, which is part of the Phoenix's purpose: "The Judgement of the Phoenix": to burn away what doesn't work. Recent interventions of the Phoenix suggest that "what doesn't work" is what has become stagnant instead of naturally evolving.

As see below in a parallel universe, the Phoenix is sent by the Living Tribunal, to cleanse an Earth gone wrong. In this instance, it only took the tiniest application of it cosmic power to resolve the issue.

The Phoenix Force doesn't actually have a body. It is a manifestation of the Life energy of the Marvel Universe. When it does manifest as a visible entity, it takes on the form of a flaming red-orange bird. It can manifest in this bird-like form or it can when it takes a host show up behind the host as a winged construction behind them.

In most cases, Jean Grey will be hosting the Phoenix Force. With her innate powers of telepathy and telekinesis boosted to the Nth degree by the near-omnipotence of the Phoenix, she has very few limits and is capable of complete molecular rearrangement using her telekinetic abilities. Her telepathic powers allow her to be able to communicate across the fabric of the Universe itself with any creature no matter its origin.
