Zacharie isn’t sure how it drew him back here; he recognizes it the moment his cloven hooves trod on the solid concrete, trailing sand in the long, dark fur at his ankles. The warehouse where Joshua proposed to him. It’s as if he can feel something in the heart of his fiancé aching to be put back together again--to be comforted and restored. But how did he know he was here...?
It doesn’t matter. Even now he can feel that he isn’t alone. He whickers softly into the echoing empty space, taking slow steps as he glances back and forth. In the dark, his horn lights the way with a gentle golden glow.
He stops, looking up at the waning moon through the gap in the ceiling; just where it was that night. The memory is still sweet and crisp as the cool night air.
