In partnership with Christina's Cupcakes, we created these Double Unicorn Macarons, a magical treat that combines the charm of unicorns with the delicacy of French macarons. These colorful macarons with a buttercream filling infused with unicorn essence are sure to please both adults and children. Don't forget to add decorations with unicorn themes and a sprinkling of edible glitter for an added whimsical touch!
Ingredients: 200g almond flour. 200g powdered sugar. 150g egg whites aged. 50g granulated sugar. 1/2 tsp unicorn essence. Purple food coloring. Pink food coloring. Blue food coloring. Edible glitter for decoration. Unicorn-themed sprinkles.
Instructions: Combine the powdered sugar and almond flour, then divide into three equal portions. The aged egg whites should be whipped until soft peaks form in a different bowl. Add the powdered sugar gradually while continuing to whip until glossy, stiff peaks form. To create three distinct colored batterspurple, pink, and bluefold the whipped egg whites into each portion of the almond flour-sugar mixture. Spoon the colored batter into individual piping bags and secure the tips with round tips. Ensuring uniform sizing, pipe macaron shells onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. After removing any air bubbles by tapping the baking sheet against the counter, allow the macarons to sit at room temperature for approximately half an hour, or until a skin forms on top. Set the oven temperature to 300F 150C. The macarons should have firm feet and stop being wobbly when lightly touched after baking for 12 to 15 minutes. Before carefully removing the macarons from the baking sheet, let them cool completely. Once cooled, match identically sized macaron shells. Press a half-moon of unicorn essence-infused buttercream icing into each macaron pair. After sandwiching the macarons, roll the edges in sprinkles with a unicorn theme and edible glitter. To allow the flavors to mingle, keep the Double Unicorn Macarons in the refrigerator for a full day in an airtight container before serving.
