Stakes Winner Union Jackson Retired
Stakes winner Union Jackson has been retired. He will enter stud at Sequel Stallions in New York for a 2018 fee of $5,000. “A brilliant horse, by a great horse, and out of a brilliant horse. I would know … I had all three,” said Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen.
The five-year-old won the Sam Houston Sprint Cup Stakes and Iowa Sprint Handicap during his career, and finished third in the gr.III Aristides Stakes. He also finished third in the Thanksgiving Handicap.
Union Jackson is the first foal out of Gr.I winner and track record-setter Hot Dixie Chick. Hot Dixie Chick is also a half-sister to 2017 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming. Union Jackson will stand alongside Sequel stallions Freud, Mission Impazible, Alpha, Stephanoatsee, and Laoban.
The son of Curlin (out of Hot Dixie Chick, by Dixie Union) retires with a record of 11: 6-1-2 with earnings of $273,874.
