💥Memorial Weekend Car Contact💥 At 4:30am this morning in Mira Mesa a driver crashed into a pad mount switch causing thousands of customers to lose power. Our Electric Troublemen and Fault Finding Specialists responded immediately to make the scene safe alongside first responders on scene. The incident left multiple underground circuits damaged and in need of repair. Close to 20 of our members were called and responded to safely restore power. From our Beach Cities Linemen, Troublemen, traffic control crews, locators, system operators and dispatchers - we want to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you who responded on the holiday weekend to this emergency job. Our members constantly work nights, weekends and holidays to maintain the most reliable utility service in the nation. ⚡️💥Monday Morning Car Pole💥⚡️ Our members were called early this morning to this emergency car-pole contact in La Mesa after a speeding car took out three power poles and a fire hydrant. Our electric Troublemen and line crews showed up immediately to make the scene safe and clear downed powerlines for public safety. Our IBEW 465 Utility Workers respond to emergencies like these everyday and risk their lives to protect our customers. Thank you to everyone who responded to this trouble call and who will be working all day to make repairs to get the lights back on. 🚗💥⚡️Encinitas Car Contact⚡️💥🚗 Thank you to our @sdge North Coast crews who responded to this emergency job involving a customer who lost control of his truck and crashed into a pad mount transformer leading to an unplanned outage impacting dozens of customers. Luckily nobody was hurt and our crews were able to safely restore power in a matter of hours. ⚡️⚡️🇺🇸It’s #SubstationSaturday 🇺🇸⚡️⚡️ and we would like to highlight our dedicated team of Substation Electricians at the Imperial Irrigation District and San Diego Gas & Electric! The work our IBEW 465 members do is critical to integrating every battery storage and utility scale solar installation in Southern California! Our substations are some of the most critical pieces of utility infrastructure that transform transmission voltages up to as high as 500,000 volts to a usable distribution voltage that we use in our communities. Our Electricians go through 4 year state accredited apprenticeship programs including years of night school and 8,000 hours of on the job training to be able to safely do their work.
