My childhood dream Judy Blume/ Amelia Bedelia closet
This 1930 mansion in Reno, Nevada has a Tuscany look, but that’s where the similarity stops. $2.7M.
The process behind the monochromatic lounge I designed for Apartment Therapy’s Small/Cool New York City designer showcase. Designing a room over 2,000 miles away meant I needed to be laser precise and prepared for anything.
I started by laying out the dimensions of the space to understand the limitations of the 10′x12′ room. After solidifying the style I wanted, I modeled the furniture and lighting I wanted to use to make sure the layout would work.
When it came time to flesh out the details, I decided to create custom wheatpaste murals for some grungy trompe l’oiel, a hand dyed tapestry and some custom black boucle medieval flail pillows.
The final result was a mirror image of the rendering I had created and BOY HOWDY did I feel good to be able to walk around the space in real life after it had only been living in my head for so long.
Last year I was selected by Apartment Therapy to be one of the 12 featured designers in their Small/Cool New York City design showcase. I was given a 10x12 room and given free range to make the most of it in my signature style.
I designed custom wheatpasted arches and graffiti murals to pay homage to the city, but kept things classy with a Terrazza sofa and Lodes lighting fixtures.
