Makarov had spent nearly an hour earlier setting up the whole guild, using his Titan Magic to help him move the tables to the edges of the guild and hang up a large white sheet for the lacrima to project the movie onto. The adults had been booted to the second floor, and the young teenagers had been let loose on the first. It was the favorite night of the month for most of the Third Gen Fairies, namely the two who sat giggling together at the front.
Levy and Natsu were curled up at the front, the two young teenagers earning front row privileges due to the fact that the rest of the guild was taller than them. At 13 and 14, neither of them had yet to hit their growth spurts yet, and their bitterness over the fact had formed a bond of friendship that was rivaled only by their friendships with Happy or Jet and Droy, respectively.
"There's far too much to take in here," Levy sang softly, trying to keep from grinning as she heard Gray make a distressed noise behind them. "More to find than can ever be found."
"But the sun rolling high, in the sapphire sky," Natsu sang a little louder. "Keeps great and small on the endless round!"
"It's the CIIIIIIIIIRCLE OF LIIIIIIIFE!" the typically quiet Levy belted out, much to the rest of the guild's amusement and Gray's despair. "And it mooooooves us alllllllllll!"
Natsu started chanting next to her as she continued to sing, drumming on the wooden floorboards as Jet and Droy joined in from further back. Gray made to stand up - presumably to beat them into silence - only to get yanked back down violently by the back of his shorts, a quiet Erza glaring at him.
"I love this song," she hissed at him, and Gray wisely sat back down, shaking in his seat as he watched baby Simba get presented to the Pride Lands. Erza nodded her approval of his actions, turning to watch Levy with a small smile. Natsu had been a good influence on her, helping to bring the young Script Mage out of her shell, and she had a calming affect on Natsu that, to this day, Erza could not replicate without knocking the young man out.
When the music started back up, the entire guild joined in the singing this time, but the two voices of the smallest fairies still rang loud and clear over the rest, unrestrained in their happiness.
----------
"Has anyone seen Natsu?" Lucy asked, frowning when she received only negative responses. It had only been a week since the Tenroujima group had returned, and there was still a lingering sadness hanging over the tiny, new (to Lucy, at least) guild hall, despite the return of the missing mages. She had been hoping to find Natsu so that they could go on a mission and maybe away from the lingering gloom, but finding Natsu was taking longer than expected. She sighed, going over to the table where Gajeel and Wendy were sitting together, Gajeel slowly speaking to Wendy in Draconic as the younger Dragon Slayer tried to replicate the sounds he made.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt," Lucy said, frowning, "but have you two seen Natsu? I haven't seen him all day."
"No, sorry," Wendy said, shaking her head. Gajeel shook his head before frowning.
"I haven't seen Shorty all day either," he said, sniffing the air before looking around, his eyebrows scrunching together. Lucy leaned her hip against the table, crossing her arms with a frown.
"Smell anything?"
"They're nearby," he said slowly, "but I can't pick up where-"
All three mages jumped when there was the sudden loud rumble of horns and drums, playing loudly through the tiny guild hall. A cheer went up from the rest of the Third Gen Fairies, barring Gray's loud groan, and Gajeel stood up, looking around in confusion.
"The hell?" he murmured, only to get spooked again when the back door banged open loudly.
"I'm gonna be a mighty king!" Natsu sang loudly, jumping up onto the nearest table. "So enemies beware!"
"I've never seen a King of Beasts with quite so little hair," Makarov called from the bar, grinning brightly. Natsu turned and pointed to him with a wide grin.
"I'm gonna be the mane event like no king was before! I'm brushing up on looking down, I'm working on my roar!" the last word was sung at Gajeel, the Fire Dragon Slayer opening his mouth in a loud mock roar before grinning and jumping off the table.
"Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing," Makarov said, having to strain his voice to be heard over the clapping of the rest of the guild. Natsu swung himself on top of the bar, throwing his arms out wide.
"Oh I just can't wait to be kiiiing!" he sang before stepping back, falling behind the bar gracefully. He popped back up on Makarov's left side, a familiar head of blue hair popping up on the other with her thumbs in her ears, waggling her fingers and sticking her tongue out mockingly. "No one saying do this!" Natsu sang happily.
"Now, when I said that-"
"No one saying be theeeere~" Levy chimed in, propping her head up with an innocent smile when Makarov turned to look at her.
"What I meant was-"
"No one saying stop that!"
"What you don't realize is-"
"No one saying see heeeere!" The two sang in unison, pulling themselves up onto the bar much to the delight of the guild.
"Now see here!" Makarov yelled, unable to keep the smile off his face.
"Free to run around all day!" Natsu and Levy sang, dancing on the bar.
"That's definitely out!" Macao yelled from his table, a bright smile on his face as well.
"Free to do it all our waaay!" They stepped down onto the bar stools in unison, letting them fall forward until the two young adults were gracefully deposited on the ground.
Wendy laughed from her spot sitting at the table as Lucy and Gajeel watched in shock, the two mages continuing to dance around and moving down onto the main floor. As the two continued their performance, the rest of the guild started to join in, some of the other teenagers stepping up onto their own tables to dance along while the adults drummed on their tables in time with the music.
The feeling of despair that was hanging around started to melt away as laughter and singing filled the guild.
Lucy and Gajeel shared a confused look before Lucy shrugged, grinning. Juvia had decided to take Lucy's route of "Just roll with it" across the guild hall, dancing on her table with Evergreen while smiling brightly. The entire guild seemed to join in with the chorus, and with an exasperated laugh, Gajeel joined in, unable to keep a smile off his face at the pure happiness that filled the guild.
"Let every creature go for broke and siiing!" the entire guild sang at the top of their lungs. "Let's hear it in the herd and on the wiiing! It's gonna be King Simba's finest fliiing!"
"Oh I just can't wait to be kiiiing!" Natsu sang, jumping up on a table towards the middle of the guild and holding his hand out towards Levy.
"Oh he just can't wait to be kiiing!" she sang, her clear soprano ringing through the guild as Natsu pulled her up onto the table with him.
"Oh I just can't waaaait!"
"Just can't waaaaait!"
"To be kiiiiiiiing!" the guild sang, collapsing into loud laughter when the music cut off. Natsu and Levy stood triumphantly on their table, arms thrown open wide and smiles even wider as they watched their friends and family laugh together. They high-fived, stepping off the table and making their way towards Gajeel and Lucy.
"What was that?" Lucy asked between laughs, and Natsu beamed at her.
"A little something we like to do when guild morale is down," he said a little smuggly, sharing a smile with Levy. They were both breathless, but seemed to glow with happiness.
"We've been doing it since we were, like, 13," Levy explained with a bright smile. "Lion King forms the base of our friendship."
"I thought our mutual shortness did that?"
"Well yeah, but then you went and grew on me, you dick," Levy teased, punching his shoulder. He laughed, playfully punching her back before the two dissolved into giggles, much to their friends' amusement.
Across the room, Erza smiled, glad to see that though understated, Natsu and Levy's friendship had withstood time and the forming of new friendships.
(Ugh, lame ending is lame. And yes, I put Disney movies in Fiore, fight me)
1. Would get most upset over being friend zoned: Ox. He'd complain about it a grand total of once, and the retribution from his female classmates was swift and merciless. He never did it again.2. Is allergic to eggs: Let's be real, it's be Kidd.
3. Would most likely fall down the stairs: BlackStar. He'd be too distracted by his own conversation (about himself, most likely) to pay attention and he'd totally miss a step and fall flat on his face. Tsubaki would be the only one with any sympathy.
Everyone else would be laughing.
4. Would be the most surprised reading homestuck: Stein. If anyone would be able to understand Homestuck, it'd be him. He'd probably have a Wall of Crazy devoted to it and would stay up for nights trying to make all the pieces fit. Marie would have to drag him to bed.
5. Still laughs at overused tumblr memes: Blair and Patti, because they're both actually 5.
6. Browses tvtropes.com several hours a day: Maka. She likes to read the pages of each book she finishes. She will use different tropes when she's trying to explain something in class and will have to explain what the hell she means.
7. Curses every 5 sentences: Soul.
8. Reuses their clothes the day after putting them in the laundry: Also Soul. He is a lazy sharkbear.
9. Cried upon finding porn of themselves on the internet: Marie and Crona. They'd both just be so embarrassed.
The doctor said that if they took you out, I would die, because I couldn't live without such a good friend. Give this heart to everyone you don’t want to lose in 2013 including me if you care. Try to collect twelve, it is not easy. Be honest and send this to anyone who made you smile this year. ♥
Aww, thank you!
This is really sweet and you've made me very happy.
