It gets kinda tiring, constantly seeing general aro experiences called "aroace experiences", as though aroaces were the only ones to experience them or – more likely – as though aroaces were the only aros

hello! aro question for you all!
so, i identify as aroace or whatever. but i generally think of myself as aro first. like the aromantic part has so much more of a weight on my identity and the asexual part is something i just. never really think about it really.
is that kind of whats meant by non-sam aro? is there another word for that? thank u in advance for helping a guy out. :]
it can be - there are folks who identify as non sam aro because they feel more connection to their aromanticism than any sexual orientation they may have. that's how we (mods are plural) generally mean it.
there's also a history of debate about what term is best for that. non sam aro, archaro (like "overarching identity is aromantic"), primearo (primarily aromantic), unit aro (like aromantic is the "one" ie "unit" identity), and honestly several we forget. it was a really active conversation for a minute, and then.... it kinda just never lead to anything tbh.
I think these terms all are useful for assorted reasons, but have different vibes which fit better for some folks. non sam aro has a history to it that we like, archaro sounds really good and i like the meaning, and unit aro is honestly just solid. primearo just... doesn't feel right for us, specifically, but I feel like I remember it having more support as a term at the time of this debate? that could be bias tho
i hope this helps?

Feel free to elaborate on the other options too, obviously
And happy pride month!
Unit Aro and Unit Ace flags
Unit Aro : Umbrella term for an Aro identity experienced as a single unit
Unit Ace : Umbrella term for an Ace identity experienced as a single unit
Some examples are one who identifies as Aro / Ace and they do not identify with any other orientation type, identifies as Aro / Ace most, and so "Aro" / "Ace" stands for their experiences best, or they prefer "Aro" / "Ace" over other parts of their identity.
The flag colors are inspired by the original Aro and Ace flags, as well as the Aroace flag by aroaesflags. The gradient of the Green / Purple represents the entire Aromantic / Asexual Spectrum. The Aro Arrow and Ace Spade are optional but are there for those who enjoy the symbols.
The dark blue is inspired from the Aroace flag because it was designed with those Aroaces who do not split their attractions / identities in mind ( which lines up well with Unit Aroace ). Blue also shows up in many other Aspec flags ( ex. Fray, Quoi, Aymid ). It represents one's Aro / Ace identity as a " Unit ", whole as it is and unable to be split or separated.
( I cannot find the coiner of " Unit Ace " as it's wiki page seems to be gone / down / deleted? I believe it was coined by a FANDOM or Miraheze user but if anyone has a name I can credit please drop it in my inbox! )

The fact that I’m considering starting to identify as a unit aro/non-sam aro during ace week is certainly ironic
I'm chill with anyone who has different opinions or views as me, as long as you're not supporting anything that is actively abusive or anything of course. I just wanted to rant about how I feel regarding everything that's going on with the lesbian and gay/vincian labels.
1. To start this off, I wanna mention that I'm fine with people using the word gay for whatever, it's just a word, but when it comes down to the actual label itself; it should just mean gay men. Instead of making a bunch of new terms and flags, how about making the already existing one a little more exclusive instead of making everything a free for all?
2. Instead of updating the definitions, just let whoever feels like it fits them use them. Those who want more inclusive terms can use other terms like faunic or floric. Updating pre-existing terms will just cause more problems than it solves. Now everyone's having a tiddy fit about what the "right" definition is for a word that's existed for literal years.
It's only bothering me enough to rant about because I feel like I can't just call myself gay anymore. I'm not gonna use a label that I don't even know the definition of or what flag to use. Which is why I solely identify as aromantic now.
Hey! I just wanted to let you all know that I coined a new term!
Neu Aro / Aro Neu for people who are neutral on allo or ace. It expands to either Neutro or Neutral, and it’s for non-SAM aros as well!
The term is intentionally vague and doesn’t expand on what neutral would mean in this case. You can optionally expand it to neutrosexual or neusexual, if you do use the SAM and want or need that label.
[Image: the American chopper argument meme, five panels. Two people are angry, taking turns speaking in each panel. Person A yells "I'm aromantic!". Person B yells "But are you also asexual?!" Person A, "No I'm aromantic!" Person B, throwing a chair, "But what's your sexuality?!" Person A, "I'm aromantic! Aro!". End description.]
