Al-Zahra mosque's grand opening by His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi

His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, conducted the inaugural ceremony of the mosque by performing afternoon prayer. The mosque is named "Al-Zahra." Representatives of government department and engineering companies were also there to brief Shaikh Sultan on the designs and facilities provided in the mosque.

The mosque can comfortably entertain 800 worshipers and overlooks Clock square. Al-Zahra mosque is located in the Mayasaloon area of UAE and was build based on Islamic architecture. Furthermore, the Islamic architectural pattern of this mosque is inspired by the Fatimid-stone design.

According to officials, the mosque is covered with large quantities of Fatimid stones, topped by two minarets. Each minaret is 40 meters high.

Al-Zahra is now one of the largest mosques in the city of Sharjah. The mosque occupied the area of 11,000 square meters, while the actual built-up area is about 1,388 square meters. The total cost spent on this project is over Dh21 million.

The main prayer hall of the mosque is entertained with 800 square meters of expensive carpet and a 5-meter long crystal chandelier. You'll find 16 other similar chandeliers inside the mosque spotted in different areas.

The mosque provides many facilities and services to the people who come to pray. A library is built inside the mosque where you can find all the famous books of Islam.
