So im watching Season 3 epsidoe 6 of Star Trek: The Original Seriesand I realize the United Federation is basically futuristic United States of America. They were warned they didn't want a friendly alliance with the federation but of course Kirk thought it was his duty to just transport on down and make his presence known. Compared to the way the U.S. thinks they need to just control everything and invite themselves to others homes
