Draco had been distant and quiet as he dropped her off at the clock tower entrance early Saturday morning. She’d looked for him in the Great Hall during meals all weekend, but he never seemed to be there when she was. Between him and Ginny, she felt like no one wanted to talk with her. In Herbology Monday morning she tried to pull him aside.
“Malfoy, can we please talk?”
Daphne walked over, “Drakey, do you think my Aconite looks depressed? How should I encourage it to grow?”
He looked regretful but allowed himself to get pulled away. In Astronomy, she sat with Luna as usual but noticed that Malfoy chose to sit as far from her as he could. By the end of the day, in Transfiguration, Hermione had decided to try a new tacit. When she walked by his seat, she brushed her arm along his and made eye contact. For the first time all day, he looked like he actually remembered what they’d done Friday. His eyes filled with lust, and she shivered at the intensity. But he schooled his face in a flash and looked away. She felt the loss of his eyes on her, and it stung.
