Photoset of Lightning Saix: Wildcat Proxy Special.

This kit is a unique trade I’m doing with @p-sebae of his MGS character ‘Wildcat’ as a Lightning Saix. [character reference]

I think it’s one of the most ambitious paint jobs I’ve done; the organic striping was something I hadn’t really done before, but I think it came out really well. That sunshine ‘yellow’ orange was tricky; that colour hasnt really been around since the 1980′s [our old family car was that colour] so it was a custom mix of rich gold and amber glaze. Paired with Turquoise highlights, it’s a very stunning colour scheme, something I wouldn’t have thought of. but fits in perfectly with the aesthetics of ‘Metal Gear Solid’. [example is Metal Gear Ray]

The ‘silver’ is a magnesium flake paint I stumbled on; its a gorgeous colour with a very metal-looking sheen and just the right amount of wear. The dark Saix is my standard coloured Saix for comparison.

I also glued, cemented and pinned a lot of the Saix’s problem areas, of which there is...a lot. As a result, I think this is one of the most sturdy HMM Lightning Saix I’ve seen in a while.

Today is prepping and treatment day today for my Murasame Liger kit. Gave the resin (white pieces) a good wash and now drying. I'll sand them and wash them again later. The gold pieces are the polypropylene (oily) gold plastic. My first attempt to paint them failed so I soaked them in acetone to strip and also chemically treat it so paint sticks better. Might re soak them later too. (Acetone is great for cleaning just don't use it on rubbery plastic or it will eat it. Or PET plastic like bottles. And use it outside! Or with a filter mask)

Slowly working on my Deathsaurer. I'm having fun, even if that red shellac I'm using to brighten the maroon plastic goes everywhere.

Photoset of D-Style Command Wolf

I do love the D-Style zoid kits, they are kind of adorable and make great little figures to decorate a desk. That said, the Command Wolf is seriously underwhelming, out of the box. All those details? Painted on, because the kit is just black sprues with one red sprue and silver teeth. And it was fun to paint, don’t get me wrong! But I can see why a lot of people are disappointed in this kit.

Painted up and posed, it is an adorable nugget of a zoid, however.

Photoset of HMM Genosaurer Sovereign edition

This kit started out as a Raven Version Genosaurer but I then got the idea to combine the colour scheme of the kit with the limited CP parts for the HMM Genobreaker that I picked up last year when I did a Kotobukiya store order.

I like to think of it as a King/Queen Genosaurer; I liked the sword headcrest too much not to put it on despite that being a Genobreaker part. I also painted all the red underbody with a dark maroon metallic coating to dull and contrast while using metallic violet to 'royal' up the colour scheme. The Gold pieces really make the whole kit pop and it's one of my favourite colour schemes I've done.

The kit itself is troublesome, and one of the poorer examples of kit engineering; why they thought having the entire torso be held together with connecting parts [that pop easily] instead of a solid core, I don't know but some glue and patience fixed that.

I er hahah bought the Schubaltz HMM Saber Tiger + CP kit because I'm due to have a lot of time on my hands and also I have the other three variants and it was BUGGING me that I didn't have all the kits. I love the kitty cat zoids so much! Got them cheap and I had a teeny bit of cash left from my 'fun fund' I use to budget for stuff like this. After August I think I'm gonna be repainting/fixing some of the earlier HMM kits I built. I've learnt so much since then and I want them to look the very best.

Zoids Original: Geno Ritter photoset.

There's something about Zoids with swords that I love to collect. So I did have to pick up a Geno Ritter. The kits colour scheme is gorgeous; that black armour is a rich warm blue and with the silver panelling it really pops out.

I did do some modifications, mostly for the feet. Having built a few Genosaurers, I sanded off the stabilisers on the feet, mostly because I find personally the plastic prongs tends to get in the way and look very clunky.

After sanding and trimming the feet, claws and helm, I did chrome them so it has a shine and luster. I also buffed the swords with graphite paint and trimmed a lot of fine detail with gold marker.

The only thing really irritating about this kit is it's showing it's age as far as the original cast is concerned; the legs are very floppy and it took some creative swearing to get the helm of the Geno Ritter into place. But the result was beautiful, regardless. The LED lighting in the kit really adds a nice flair. 

Also the ritter swords? Those are sharp. As in wow dang watch how hard you press your fingers into it, I tore a few polishing cloths getting the graphite to polish up on them.
