Eunoia -Christian Bök
With his book Eunoia, Christian Bök takes his place on the historical spectrum of East coast experimental sound. Bök, a conceptual artist, poet and pataphysician, works within the intersection of sound and language. Eunoia, an anthology of univocalics, was published in 2001 by Coach House Books and showcases Bök’s use of self-imposed linguistic constraints— allocating the use of a single vowel in each of the five chapters—to create experimental sonic games. It is telling to note that Chapter ‘I’ is dedicated to the Fluxus artist and publisher Dick Higgins.
