Underrated Manga

Number 2/3: Our Relationship Is(Something About Us)

Our Relationship Is (aka Something About Us, the alternate English title that I actually prefer) is technically a Manhwa, meaning it is by a Korean author (Yunji Lee), and it’s also originally a webcomic, so it’s illustrated in full color.

”Something About Us” is a really cute slice of life that deals with the relationships you have that aren’t quite easy to label. It focuses specifically on a college-age girl named Gayoung Doh who doesn’t know how to feel about her high school best friend who just came back from his required military service.

The characters in this manga attend film school in Korea, and as someone who knows basically nothing about film or Korea, it was a really unique perspective for me to be exposed to.

I absolutely love the art style in this manga. I actually read it for a decent amount of time before realizing it was originally a webcomic because of how high quality the art was (no offense to webcomics but sometimes it’s pretty obvious when something is a webcomic)

And while the art is really truly very good, it also has some just really cute, funny panels such as this one:

And along with the art being excellent, the writing is also really great too. You are truly invested in the story and the characters, and the translation is super great in my opinion.

You will absolutely fall in love with both Gayoung and Han Woojin (the previously mentioned friend), they are both such excellently written characters who feel like real actual people. Plus they’re both so f*cking cute

In conclusion, please check out Something About Us, it’s such a great slice of life/romance and if you’ve never read a manhwa before it’s a great one to start with!
