Christmas tree

 Can’t wait to put our new tree up. We always do it the day after Thanksgiving. This new tree is unlit. It never occurred to me eight years ago when we got our last (pre-lit) tree that at some point those lights would start going out. Last year one of the rows went out and it took some major covering to hide the burned out lights and spread out the good ones evenly. We started to just take the lights off the branches after Christmas, but that got old quickly. They were so tightly wrapped around each branch. The new tree cost less than half of what our previous tree did. Now we have light options. Probably going to go with some multi-color LED lights. I have a couple of all-blue rows of LED lights for the living room window. They look great, but I prefer multi-color for a tree (although blue lights on a  white tree are very nice).

Pre-lit to Unlit

So I spent 2.5 hours changing my "pre-lit" tree into an unlit.  Mainly b/c I could not find an unlit I liked.  I mean, let's face it.  You buy a pre-lit tree to offset the cost of lights.  And then your pre-lit tree goes out, forcing you to buy lights.  What the EFF is the point of a pre-lit tree, then?  No point.  So after Christmas, I removed the lights from the tree.  Not hard, just involved.  Each branch on the way in and the way out has a zip tie.  Within the branch are "horse shoe" clips.  If you push them against a branch only, they are easily removed.  I could not buy an unlit tree that I liked, so I cannibalized mine.  so there.
